Their 3rd Wedding Anniversary

A/N: Because the harsh realities our most beloved family have had to deal with in the past month still remain unfathomable to me, allow me to write another scenario bearing the following in mind–

1. Richard Lim remains as President of Pilipinas Aviation Society and CEO of Lim Aviation Services, earning even more respect and admiration from the aviation industry because of the way he handled the ACC plane crash (read “His Finest Moment”).

2. The Lims continue to live in the mansion that was specifically built and designed for them.

3. Lim Aviation Institute, Richard’s newest business venture, is slowly gaining recognition in the aviation industry as the aviation school to go to.

Chapter 1

November 12, 2016, Lim mansion

Richard awakens Maya with light feathery kisses this early Saturday morning. He and his wife have reason to celebrate, after all.

Richard: Good morning, sweetheart! Happy 3rd anniversary!

Maya: (smiles) Advanced Happy 3rd Anniversary, sweetheart! Ano ka ba, sweetheart, November 12 pa lang ngayon. Masyado ka namang advanced.

Richard: Okay lang yan. The earlier we start, the better! O, get ready na. The earlier we start, the better!

Maya: Ha? Anong meron?

Richard: The kids helped me prepare breakfast. Tapos after breakfast, we’re taking a road trip to Tagaytay with the kids. Overnight na din tayo sa Tagaytay Highlands. I booked a couple of rooms for us. Happy Anniversary, sweetheart! Surprised?

Maya: (Speechless for a while)… Ano? Seryoso ka?

Richard: Yes.

Maya: Pero, sweetheart, hindi ako pwede.

Richard: Huh? But why?

Maya: Tumawag kagabi si Ms. Calandra. Tinanong kung pwede ako mag-sub para kay Eds. Um-oo ako.

Richard: What?!? But may road trip tayo today, sweetheart. Can’t you call them up now and cancel?

Maya: Sobrang short notice na, sweetheart. Di na pwede.

Richard: (smirks)

Maya: Dapat kasi sinabi mo agad.

Richard: It’s supposed to be a surprise, Maya.

Maya: Dapat sinabi mo pa rin.

Richard: Pano pa magiging surprise yun if I told you?

Maya: Ok. Ganito na lang. Tutal long weekend naman and wala tayong pasok hanggang Monday, bakit di na lang natin bukas ituloy? Okay lang ba?

Richard: Yes! But I was really looking forward to spending today with you!

Maya: (Cups Richard’s face with both her hands and kisses him) Sweetheart, ako din naman. Kaya lang di na ko makaka back out sa pag sub.

Richard: It’s just so frustrating, sweetheart.

Maya: Alam ko. Pero kasi–

Richard: (smiles) Okay na, sweetheart. Bukas na lang.

Maya: Sure na sure ka?

Richard: (Kisses her) Yes. Let’s have breakfast?

Maya: Okay, sweetheart!

Chapter 2

As they reach the dining area, their kids and the household help greet them.

Luke, Nikki & Abby: Happy 3rd Anniversary!

Sky & Sunshine: ‘Love you!

Maya: Awww! Ang sweet niyo naman! Thank you sa inyong lahat!

Richard: Thank you, kids. (Acknowledges Doris, Sabel, Lea and Joma) Thank you.

Abby: Can we eat na po?

Maya: Oo nga, gutom na ko.

Nikki: Mom, we helped Dad cook champorado with tuyo.

Luke: And meron din pong suman sa latik and kare-kare.

Maya: (Looks at Ricky) Niluto mo din?

Richard: Nooo! That’s from Nanay.

Abby: Dumaan po kahapon si Tito Simon dito. Anniversary gift daw po nina Lola Nanay for you.

Maya: Ang sweet naman! Naku, mapapalakas kain ko niyan.

Nikki: No diet muna today. Right, mom?

Maya: Oo nga, eh. May flight pa naman ako.

Luke, Nikki and Abby: Flight???

Richard: Your mom has agreed to sub for a co-FA.

Luke: Pero Dad, pano po yung surprise?

Richard: We’ll just have the road trip tomorrow.

Luke: Sayang naman po.

Nikki: I’m so excited pa naman. We’re not matutuloy pala today.

Abby: Ate, Kuya, aren’t you listening? Matutuloy naman yung road trip bukas, diba?

Maya: (Laughs) Tama si Abby. Tuloy naman, eh. Isipin nyo na lang, mas marami pa kayong time to prepare and mag plan ng activities natin para bukas.

Richard: Luke, Nikki, hindi tayo mananalo sa Mommy nyo and kay Abby pag nagkampi na sila. So follow my lead and just agree, okay?

Everyone laughs.

Chapter 3

Time Airways VIP Lounge

While Abby, Sky and Sunshine were running around the lounge, Richard, Luke and Nikki were watching them from a table nearby.

Luke: Dad, o. Ang laki na po talaga ni Abby. Ateng-Ate na.

Richard smiles and nods.

Nikki: Oo nga, Kuya!

Richard: Luke, Nikki, I’ll take you up on your promise, okay? You’ll help your Mom and I look after the twins while we’re in HK.

Luke: Oo naman po, Dad! Kami ni Nikki ang bahala sa kambal.

Nikki: Of course, Dad. Don’t worry. We know naman you want lots of ‘you and me time’ with Mom because it’s your anniversary.

Richard: Thank you, kids.

Luke: Dad, nakaka-excite po talaga gagawin natin today.

Nikki: I can’t wait to see the look on Mom’s face when she finds out about this surprise.

Richard: I’m excited, too. This is our first ever trip as a family, after all.

Nikki: Oo nga po, Dad. I’m sure Mom will be in tears later the moment she finds out.

Luke: At siyempre, kasi nagmana ka kay Mommy, for sure makikiiyak ka rin mamaya?

Nikki: Kuya!

Richard laughs as he continues to watch his three younger kids finally settle in the small play area near their table.

A few minutes later, the VIP lounge entrance door suddenly opens and in comes Capt. James Ventura. Abby looks up, sees him, and shouts, “Tito James?” Richard, Luke and Nikki are surprised to see him, as well.

James: Well, hello there, Lim kid! Abby, right?

Abby: Yes po. And these are my little brother and little sister. They’re twins po. Sky and Sunshine, say hi toTito James.

Sky & Sunshine: (Both stare at James)

Abby: Nahiya po yata sila.

James: (Smiles and kneels in front of the twins) Good morning, you two. Great to finally meet you. Goodlooking babies. Buti nagmana sa Mommy.

Luke & Nikki: Hi, Tito James!

James: (Stands up) Great to see you. (Sees Richard) Good morning, Mr. Lim.

Richard: Good morning, Capt. Ventura. I didn’t realize you’re back in Manila.

James: I just arrived the other day… I heard my old man lost to you in the PAS elections. Congratulations.

Richard: Thanks.

James: You guys have a flight?

Abby: Yes, Tito James. The whole family is flying to Hong Kong for Mom and Dad’s 3rd wedding anniversary.

James: 3rd wedding anniversary… Seemed just like yesterday. You have a beautiful family, Mr. Lim. Happy Anniversary.

Richard: Thank you.

James: But where’s Maya?

Luke: Off limits po si Mom muna dito. The family trip is a surprise. Mom still thinks she’s here today to sub for an FA.

James: Oh. I’m sure she’ll be crying happy tears the moment she discovers your surprise.

Nikki: Yes, Tito James.

James: Well, good luck with your surprise. I have to go and prepare for the flight. See you guys later.

Richard: Later?

James: Yes, I’ll be your pilot… Mr. Lim, kids, see you later. And like before, if you wish to see the cockpit area, you’re welcome to do so.

Luke: Talaga po, Tito James? Thank you po.

Chapter 4

On board Time Airways

After his usual customary greetings to the passengers for the HK flight, Capt. Ventura makes an announcement, “Today happens to be a special day because we have on this flight a couple who will be celebrating their wedding anniversary in a few days. The husband approached me earlier and asked if he could serenade his wife right here on the plane. Since he and his wife are very good friends of mine, I couldn’t say no. Dear passengers, sit back, relax and enjoy this impromptu live entertainment.

Maya was listening intently to Capt. Ventura’s announcement while seated on her assigned place as cabin crew. She mutters to herself, “Ang swerte naman ng couple na yun. Magkasama na sila dito sa eroplano, tapos may harana pa. Hmmm… Mas lalo ko tuloy na-miss si Ricky at ang mga bata.”

Soft melodious music starts playing in the background, and all Maya could do was smile at the husband’s choice of song, “Pati kanta. Kanta namin ni Ricky ito…”

🎶Itong awiting ito
Ay alay sayo.

Maya is suddenly rooted to her seat. She knows that soothing voice so well. Tears spring from her eyes as she continues to listen to her husband’s sweet serenade.

🎶Sintunado man tong
Mga pangako sayo
Ang gusto ko lamang
Kasama kang tumanda

One by one, her kids approach her and hand her a rose…

🎶 Patatawanin kita

Blinded by tears, Maya didn’t realize that her husband was already right beside her with a bouquet of sunflowers. He hands her the flowers, wipes aways her tears and holds her hand as he continues singing…

He hands the microphone to Maya. Maya then sings–

Richard: (Cups her face with both his hands and kisses Maya) Happy 3rd Anniversary, sweetheart!

Maya: Sweetheart! Happy Anniversary, too! I love you!

Wild cheers and applause erupt in the air as Richard and Maya realize they are not alone.

While holding on to his wife’s hand, Richard smiles at his fellow passengers and says, “Thank you for allowing me to serenade my wife. It will be our wedding anniversary in a few days and this is the best surprise I could think of.”

Richard: (Whispers to Maya) Time to take our seats.

Maya: Sweetheart, may trabaho ako.

Richard: Wala.

Maya: Sweetheart, meron.

Richard: This has all been planned ahead, sweetheart. Wala kang work today.

Maya: Sweetheart, nakakahiya kay Ms. Calandra. Kelangan ko magtrabaho.

Richard: Eds is here somewhere, sweetheart. She does not need someone to sub for her. This is part of the surprise.

Maya: Ano?

Richard: Yes. This is my surprise for you!

Maya: (Dumbfounded)

Richard: Let’s go to our seats first.

Maya: Pano yung Tagaytay?

Richard: Wala yun.

Maya: Huh?

Richard: This is the real surprise. Even the kids know na walang Tagaytay road trip.

Maya: Talaga?

Richard: Yes.

Maya: Sweetheart, bume-best actor ka na!

Richard: (Smiles) So how do you like my surprise?

Maya: Anong like? Love na love! First out of the country trip natin kasama ang mga bata! Thank you, sweetheart. Eto na ang best anniversary ever! Ang saya-saya!

Richard: (Smiles as he envelops Maya in a warm hug) I’m so happy you love my surprise.

Chapter 5

For the next couple of days, the happy family had a wonderful time in Hong Kong as they went to the Avenue of Stars, Victoria Peak and Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum, and Disneyland, tried out new restaurants, explored the big malls along Canton Road, and went shopping at the night market.

On their last night in Hong Kong, Richard and Maya lay cuddle up in bed.

Richard: Happy?

Maya: Siyempre naman, sweetheart. Ang saya-saya ko kasi kasama ko ikaw at ang mga bata.

Richard: Sayang lang ‘no? Ang dami pa natin sana pwedeng puntahan. I’m sure Luke, Nikki and Abby would’ve wanted to go to Ocean Park. Buti na lang they understand that the twins need lots of sleep and rest pa din.

Maya: Sweetheart, may next time pa naman. Ang importante magkakasama tayong pamilya and naka-bond talaga tayo ng sobra-sobra. Ito na ang best surprise in the whole world kaya. Ang galing kaya ng surprise mo. Buti napapayag mo si Sir James na haharanahin mo ko sa eroplano.

Richard: (mutters to himself) Perfect na sana yung surprise talaga if Captain Ventura didn’t show up.

Maya: Sweetheart, narinig kita.

Richard: (smirks)

Maya: Hanggang ngayon ba selos ka pa din kay Sir James?

Richard: No!!! Why should I?

Maya: Talaga? Bakit di ako convinced?

Richard: Truthfully?

Maya: (nods)

Richard: When I saw him last Saturday, I was just reminded of the past.

Maya: Nung summit?

Richard: Not just that. Naalala ko lang how I almost did not pursue you because I felt you deserve so much better than me. Someone like James or Simon who were both single.

Maya: Sweetheart, ano ka ba? Diba napag-usapan na natin ito dati? Ikaw lang kaya ang kaisa-isang lalaki na mahal na mahal ko. Kaibigan ko lang si Sir James at si Simon. Napadpad ako ng Maynila para makapagtrabaho, makatulong sa pamilya at abutin ang mga pangarap ko. Pero diba sabi ko nga, masaya ako na nakilala kita. Ikaw yung napakamasayang bonus na natanggap ko.

Richard: I know, right? Nag- I love you ka nga agad nung nag- I love you ako sa yo, diba?

Maya: Haha! Sweetheart!

Richard: O, why are you blushing? Eh totoo naman sinabi ko?

Maya: Oo na. Sige na.

Richard: Bakit ka ba na in love sa kin?

Maya: Basta. Unang kita ko pa lang sa yo, na love at first sight kaya ako. Kahit ang sungit-sungit mo dun sa Jones Bridge, naramdaman ko kaya yung concern mo sa kin nun. Tapos nung nakilala na kita, mas lalo pa king na in love kaya sa yo.

Richard: Bakit nga?

Maya: Eh kasi the best ka kaya. Best Daddy, best boss, bestfriend. Tapos di ka lang sobrang gwapo, ang bango-bango mo pa kaya.

Richard: Okay. Okay. I get it. Patay na patay ka sa kin.

Maya: Hihi. Eh ikaw, sweetheart, bakit mo ko minahal?

Richard: Sweetheart, I love you so much. I just do. You’re the only woman I wish to spend the rest of my life with. And kung gusto mo isa-isahin ko pa sa yo yung reasons why I love you, baka di na tayo makatulog niyan. Maaga pa flight natin bukas.

Overwhelmed by her her husband’s love for him, Maya suddenly cups his face and gives him a lingering kiss.

Maya: I love you, sweetheart. Nang sobra sobra sobra.

Richard: I love you more, Maya! Thank you for coming into my life and for not giving up on me. You are the best gift I’ve ever received.

Maya: I love you!

Richard lovingly gazes at his wife, leans in and rains kisses on her lips. Before long, the inevitable happens.

Chapter 6

November 15, 2016

Upon their return to Manila, the Lims head back to the mansion to partake of the hearty lunch prepared by Sabel. Little did they know that surprise visitors were waiting for them at home.

Maya: (Runs towards their visitors and hugs them) Manang Fe! Mang Anastacio!

MF: (Smiles) Maya, Ricardo, na-miss ko kayong lahat. Happy Anniversary sa inyo.

Richard: Salamat po, Manang.

MF: Happy Anniversary, Ricardo, Maya.

Richard: Salamat po.

Maya: Manang, dito na po kayo matulog. Ipapaayos ko ang guest room.

MF: Oo, nangako na ako kay Ricardo na dito kami hanggang sa Linggo.

Maya: Talaga po? Masaya yan.

MF: Para nga makapagkwentuhan tayo at ma-check ko kung inaalagaan kayo mabuti nitong sina Doris.

Sabel: Naku, Manang wag kayong mag-alala. May sumusunod na po sa yapak nyo kaya.

Joma: Welcome, Manang Doris!

Sabel: Palakpakan!

Lea: Manang mas strikto pa po yan kesa sa inyo.

Doris: Naku, Manang, walang ginawa yang tatlong yan kundi buskahin ako.

Everyone laughs.

Luke: Tamang-tama, Manang Fe, Mang Anastacio, pwede rin po namin kayong ipasyal ni Dad sa Lim Aviation Institute.

Manang Fe: Oo nga. Gusto kong makita yang bagong negosyo na yan ng Daddy niyo.

Abby: Ang laki po ng institute and ang ganda.

Nikki: And Manang, sobrang dami na pong nag-iinquire about the school.

MF: Naku, magandang balita nga yan. Pero bago yan, magsikain na kayo. Alam kong napagod kayo sa biyahe at ilang araw din kayong di nakakain ng lutong Pinoy. Tinulungan ko si Sabel magluto.

Luke: Talaga po, Manang? Miss na po namin luto nyo.

MF: O siya, sige kain na kayo.

Nikki: Manang, you have to join us all ha. We have lots of kwento.

Abby: And we have pasalubong for everyone.

MF: Sige sasabay kaming lahat.

Over a hearty lunch of ginataang adobong sugpo, crispy pata, daing na bangus, sinigang na isda, and kare-kare, the Lims enjoyed sharing unforgettable anecdotes about their Hong Kong trip to their extended family. Laughter and chatter filled the happy home of the Lims.

Richard and Maya are now having a nightcap at the veranda after their romantic candlelit dinner especially prepared by their kids, while the rest of the household is fast asleep. Maya takes a sip of her coffee as she stares lovingly at her husband who is all smiles. She chuckles.

Richard: O ano naman?

Maya: Eh ikaw eh. Parang gandang-ganda ka sa kin. Dati naman wala kang ginawa kundi pagsabihan ako. Maya, don’t do that. Maya lower your voice. Maya close your mouth. Maya–

Richard: I’m just reminiscing about how far we’ve come along. I am immensely happy, Maya. I love you so much!

Maya: Eh feeling ko naman dati, nagandahan ka lang sa kin simula nung makita mo ko sa prom.

Richard: Hindi ah.

Maya: Eh, kelan?

Richard: The night I saw you sa Jones Bridge.

Maya: Ows?

Richard: Maya, hanggang ngayon di ka pa rin ba naniniwala na maganda ka. You’ve always been beautiful in my eyes, Maya. Then the more I got to know you mas lalo ka pang gumanda kasi–

Maya: I’m beautiful inside and out?

Richard: Yes! And I just love you so much.

Maya: Ako din, sweetheart. Love na love na love kita.

Richard: I can only hope that we will spend many, many happy years together. I wanna grow old with you, sweetheart!

Maya: Aww. Sweetheart! Pa kiss —

Before Maya could even finish her sentence, Richard suddenly thrusts forward and gives Maya another mind-blowing kiss. As always, she loved the feel of his sweet lips on hers. When they end the kiss and gasp for air, all Richard and Maya could do was gaze lovingly at each other.

With their hands intertwined and without breaking eye contact, they retreat to their room and make love through the night, totally unaware that their union on the night of their anniversary shall bless them with another special gift nine months from now: their children’s youngest baby brother and their youngest little boy: Matthew Richard “Matt” Dela Rosa Lim.

HIS FINEST MOMENT

Richard Lim is a respected leader in the aviation industry who has never compromised his integrity and credibility when it comes to dealing with his peers and his clients. His company, Lim Aviation Services, has grown in leaps and bounds in the past decade and has wooed not only local but international airlines, as well. All thanks to Richard Lim, LAS is now known in the industry not only for the excellent, unparalleled service it provides all the aircraft it maintains, but also for pioneering the green MRO campaign and for having the biggest hangar in the Philippines. Richard, CEO par excellance, has all the best qualities a leader must possess: forward-thinking, responsive, trustworthy, hardworking, responsible, socially aware and very thorough. He is undoubtedly the best in the industry.

Truly, life couldn’t be more perfect for Richard Lim, charismatic Lim Aviation Services CEO and newest Pilipinas Aviation Society president.

His family life is going great. His lovely wife, Maya, is enjoying her job as an international FA for Time Airways. His eldest son, Luke, has already completed his on-the-job training at LAS and has only a semester left before he graduates from Philippine University of Sciences. His daughter, Nikki, is excelling in school and does not seem in a hurry to have a boyfriend just yet. Abby is also doing great in school and is the sweetest little Ate to her twin siblings, Sky and Sunshine. And the twins? They’re both healthy and happy kids. And they remain to be everyone’s pride and joy.

Richard’s 22-year old business, Lim Aviation Services, is continuously thriving and is well on its way to becoming the top MRO company in the Philippines. And his latest business venture, Lim Aviation Training Institute, is scheduled to open early next year.

But life, as they say, is never the bed of roses we wish for it to be. Unknown to Richard, his greatest nightmare, is yet to come through.

CHAPTER 1

It is almost midnight and Richard is still wide awake. It has been almost an hour since he and Maya shared another night of love and passion, yet sleep has not beckoned. Happily sated, he lovingly gazes at his dear sweet Maya, peacefully sleeping beside him. He leans in close to her, lightly touches her face, and kisses her forehead before he settles on his side of the bed.

The ringing of his cell phone startles him. He reaches for his phone on the bedside table and mutters to himself, “It’s late.”

Richard: Celeste?… What? Nag-crash ang plane ng ACC?

Celeste: Ngayong gabi lang! Thirty minutes after take off from Radaya Islands! Bigla na lang nawala ang contact ng pilots! What do we do, Richard?

Richard: Calm down, Celeste. Why are you panicking?

Celeste: I’m soooorry! It’s just that tayo ang nagme-maintenance check ng aircraft ng Asia Cargo Corporation! Kapag ang cause ng crash ay mechanical failure, the blaaaame will be on us!

Richard: That’s not possible. Maayos tayo magtrabaho. Did you get the details of the crash already?

Celeste: They’re searching for the exact crash site.

Richard: Alright. Even if I’m positive that our company is not the cause of the crash, it’s SOP to conduct an internal investigation A.S.A.P. And we will do just that first thing tomorrow morning just to ensure that our company is not at fault.

Celeste: Okay.

Richard: Celeste, can you text me the contact details of ACC? I’ll give them a call now to offer whatever help and support we can give them.

Celeste: Okay.

Richard: And can you do me one more favor? Please give Minerva a call and have her schedule a breakfast meeting with Charles, together with our crisis management team and our Public Affairs Head tomorrow at 8 AM sharp. We need to be prepared for the worst case scenario.

Celeste: Okay, Richard.

Richard: Ok. I’ll be waiting for ACC’s contact details, Celeste. Thanks… Bye.

He returns his phone on the table and ponders on the turn out of events. He has lost all desire to sleep now.

Maya suddenly stirs. “Sweetheart? Sinong tumawag? May problema ba?”

Richard pulls Maya close, kisses her forehead and envelops her in a tight embrace. “It’s Celeste. Let’s just talk about it in the morning, sweetheart. Let’s go back to sleep.”

“Sure ka?”

“Yes, sweetheart.”

“Okay, sweetheart. I love you!”

“I love you, too.”

Richard is aware of the gravity of what had just happened to ACC. Even if he is certain that his company is not responsible for the crash, he is aware that some of his rivals in the industry could use this issue to malign or destroy LAS’s reputation and he simply won’t allow that to happen. Never! His more than twenty-five years of experience in the aviation industry has prepared him for crises like this. He will most definitely not take this sitting down. He knows that time is of the element. He is fully aware that it takes years to build a reputation and it only takes a few seconds to ruin it. He will do everything in his power to stop anyone who will come in the way of LAS.

A single question keeps running through this CEO’s head, “How do I mitigate this brewing crisis?”

Once certain that his wife has gone back to sleep, Richard sets his blanket aside and gets his cell phone. He then stands up, picks up the white shirt that is carelessly strewn on the floor and puts it on. He stealthily heads outside their room to give ACC, as well as Engr. Yamaguchi, a call. Richard, fully aware of the urgency of the matter at hand, takes charge.

CHAPTER 2

Early the next morning, Richard heads to the dining area and is greeted by Maya.

Maya: Good morning, sweetheart. Kain na.

Richard: Ah, hindi na sweetheart. I scheduled an 8 o’clock breakfast meeting at the office today.

Maya: Ah, dahil ba ‘to dun sa tawag kagabi?

Richard: Yes, a plane crashed.

Maya: (dumbfounded) Ano? Pano? Kaninong airline?

Richard: It’s a cargo plane. Asia Cargo Corporation.

Maya: Diba kliyente natin yun sa LAS?

Richard: (nods) I talked with Mr. Lu, the CEO of ACC, last night and offered to send them whatever help and support we can give. As of now kasi, hindi pa nako-contact yung dalawang pilots.

Maya: Kawawa naman. Sana mahanap na sila. Ano daw ba yung cause ng crash?

Richard: Inaalam pa. And… sweetheart?

Maya: Sweetheart?

Richard: I might have to fly to Radaya Islands tomorrow morning so I can personally meet with Mr. Lu. Isasama ko si Ryan. Pero we’ll fly back in by tomorrow evening.

Maya: Ok, sweetheart. Gawin mo kung anong dapat. Wag mong isipin kami ng mga bata. Ako bahala dito. Gusto mo bang sumama ako sa yo sa office ngayon tutal mamayang hapon pa naman flight ko?

Richard: No need, sweetheart. Just stay here and rest. Everything will be fine.

Maya: (Approaches Richard and gives him a kiss and a warm embrace). Okay, sweetheart. Tawagan mo ko ha.

Richard: Yes, sweetheart.

Maya: Ricky, wag mo sosolohin problema ha?Andito lang ako. Kapit-bisig tayo.

Richard smiles in spite of himself. “Yes, sweetheart.” His dear sweet Maya is at it again. He recalls the many instances in the past when Maya has always been there to comfort his troubled mind. She’s really a sensitive soul who will do everything in her power to ease my worries and concerns. I’m so lucky and blessed to have her.

Maya: Promise?

Richard: (Embraces his wife and kisses her on the forehead) Yes. I promise, sweetheart. I’ll pick you up later, okay?

Maya: Ok, sweetheart. I love you!

Richard: I love you, too.

CHAPTER 3

Richard’s meeting with Atty. Ryan, Charles, Celeste, LAS’s crisis management team and Head of Public Affairs extended beyond lunch time. Shortly after briefing the group about the ACC plane crash, Richard called on Engineer Yamaguchi to report on the maintenance history done on ACC, as well as the latest maintenance they did on the cargo plane. During the meeting, the group agreed on the following:

1. Send their heartfelt sympathy to ACC and offer their company whatever help and support they may need at this time. (Richard informed the group that he, together with Atty Ryan, will be flying out of the country early the next morning so he can meet with Mr. Lu and personally ask him what help they might need at this time. He also informed the group that he’ll offer a portion of one of the LAS hangars as headquarters for search and recovery should ACC need one.)

2. Assure the aviation industry and their clients that their 22-year old company values safety among others and has always prided itself in giving excellent service to its clientele. (Richard announced that all the services LAS offers, as well as their processes, will be carefully reviewed and critiqued. All aircraft under LAS maintenance will be monitored closely. And All ACC planes, in particular, will have another layer of quality control before being released.)

3. Foresee and discuss all possible scenarios that may arise because of this current setback. The group also thought of the most appropriate plan of action for each dreaded scenario.

The team agreed to meet again day after tomorrow to assess the situation and give feedback. Before the meeting adjourned, Richard also asked Minerva to schedule a meeting with the board of directors day after tomorrow, as well, so they can be briefed on what is happening.

Mid-afternoon, Richard met with all his engineers and assured them that he is on top of the situation and they need not worry about the tragedy that befell ACC. He also assured them of his faith in their capabilities and reminded them to continue giving their clients the excellent service they deserve.

Once all is settled at LAS, Richard heads to PAS for an early dinner meeting with his co-officers so they can lay out plans for a PAS event that is scheduled next month, and also address current issues and problems that have been brought to their attention by various airline and MRO companies. As expected, his co-officers also asked him about the crash and how LAS is. He informed them that he has been in touch with Mr. Lu since last night and that LAS is fine.

CHAPTER 4

By 8:30 PM, Richard and Maya are back in the mansion and are greeted by Luke, Nikki and Abby. Their kids notice the flowers.

Nikki: Flowers, mom?

Richard: May admirer ang mommy niyo.

Abby: Lagot siya sa min!

Luke: Ang admirer ba na to ang pangalan Richard Lim?

Maya: Oo. Pagsabihan niyo nga. Araw-araw na lang akong pinakikilig.

Abby: Mommy, can you check my homework po?

Maya: Sige, anak. Pero tulungan mo muna ako ayusin itong flowers na bigay ng napakakulit na admirer ko.

Nikki: Hihi, Dad o. Makulit daw po kayo.

Richard smiles. Once Abby is out of earshot, Luke asks his Dad, ” By the way, Dad, may nag-crash po palang ACC plane? Diba client po natin yun?

Richard: Yes, son.

Luke: (looks questioningly at his Dad)

Richard: Let’s talk about it later.

Nikki: Is everything okay, Dad?

Richard: Yes, Niks. Why don’t you guys prepare hot choco and coffee and then meet me at the office after I freshen up. I have something to tell you.

Nikki: Okay po, Dad.

Thirty minutes later, Richard joins Luke and Nikki in his office,

Richard: I’m taking the first flight to Radaya Islands first thing tomorrow morning.

Luke: Bakit po, Dad?

Richard: It’s a business trip. Atty Ryan and I will meet up with executives of Asia Cargo Corporation to offer our company’s help and support…

Nikki: Because of the plane crash, Dad?

Richard: Yes.

Nikki: What caused the crash, Dad?

Richard: We still don’t know, Niks. The pilots have yet to be found. And the search team is still looking for the black box which will help reveal the cause of the accident.

Luke: Dad, sure po ako na walang kinalaman ang LAS dun. I’ve seen how our engineers and maintenance people work. Very thorough po sila mag maintenance check. Imposible na mechanical failure ang cause.

Richard: Yes, son. I’m very sure about that, too. But even so, we still have to go there and offer help. Of course we will also help and cooperate sa investigation. The sooner we get to the bottom of this, the better.

Nikki: What time is your flight tomorrow, Dad?

Maya joins them in the office.

Richard: Na-check mo na homework ni Abby, sweetheart?

Maya: Oo. At naglambing pa ang baby natin. Patulugin ko daw muna siya.

Nikki: Ah, ang cute naman ng little sister ko!

Richard: (smiles) What was your question again, Niks?

Nikki: What time is your flight, Dad?

Maya: 7 AM. Kaya it’s time to sleep na, mga anak. Maaga pa ang flight ng Daddy niyo.

Nikki: What about you, Mom? Do you have a flight tomorrow?

Richard: Yes, Niks. Same time. Your mom will be one of the FA’s in my early flight tomorrow.

Luke: Ows? Date with Mom up in the air, Dad?

Richard: (smiles) Pwede!

Nikki: Good night, Dad. Good night, Mom. And Dad?

Richard: Yes, Niks?

Nikki: Don’t worry too much, okay? We’re here for you. And I’ll help pray that they’ll find the pilots na.

Richard: Thank you, Niks.

Luke: Dad, nandito lang din po ako ha. Let us know what happens.

Richard: (Smiles lovingly at his family) Kapit-bisig, right?

Maya: Oo naman!

CHAPTER 5

With his company’s BCP (Business Continuity Plan) in place and his crisis management team and Public Affairs Head working overtime to make sure that LAS is not put in a bad light, the succeeding two weeks prior to the announcement of the results of the investigation went by without a hitch for Richard, LAS and his PAS presidency. Sure, there were people like Julian Javier of JJ Aviation who attempted to insinuate that the cause of the ACC plane crash was mechanical failure, but LAS was able to thwart all attempts to damage its reputation, all thanks to Richard’s foresight and his amazing crisis management team, his very reliable Public Affairs Head AND his hardworking team of engineers who continue to ensure the safety and the excellent quality of service in all the aircraft it maintains.

Two weeks later…

Richard is now able to heave a deep sigh. The nightmare that befell Lim Aviation Services is finally over. The blackbox has finally been found and after a thorough inspection, the cause of the accident is finally revealed. The ACC plane crash occurred because the captain suffered a heart attack thirty minutes after take off and his co-pilot couldn’t control the plane in time, causing it to make a major crash landing, throwing them off the plane about 30 feet from the crash site and killing them on impact.

CHAPTER 6

Two days later, Richard and Maya flew to Radaya Islands to offer their condolences to the bereaved families of the pilots. They also met with ACC officials, as well, and once again offered whatever help they can extend to ACC and their pilots’ families before flying back home.

On the flight back home the next day, Richard smiles, holds Maya’s hand and gives it a kiss, “Thank you, sweetheart.”

Maya: For what?

Richard: For holding my hand throughout this ordeal. Your trust and faith in me really means a lot.

Maya: Siyempre naman, sweetheart. Nandito lang ako para sa yo, always!

Richard: (smiles) Thank you.

Maya: Ano na nga ba sabi mo nung PAS Gratitude Ball? “Hardships, obstacles, and even failure may come our way but if we all work together hand in hand, pag nag kapit-bisig tayo, as my beautiful wife would always say, we can fly over and beyond the harshest storm that any aircraft can endure…” O diba?

Richard: Minemorize mo yung speech ko?

Maya: Oo naman. Lagi kaya. Ahahaha! Ang ganda kaya lalo na yung nung sinabi “my beautiful wife.” Ako yun, diba? Hihihi!

Richard: Haha! Yes, ikaw yun! Wala ng iba!

Maya: Alam mo ba, mas lalo kang gumagwapo ngayon! Tama lang na ikaw talaga na elect na PAS president! Gwapo na. Sobra-sobrang galing pa! Ang bango-bango pa! Proud na proud ako talaga sa yo, Mr. Lim.

Richard: Kaya crush mo pa rin ako, Mrs. Lim?

Maya: Oo naman!!! Di mo ba napansin, sweetheart? Di pa man nangyayari yung plane crash, handang-handa ka na.

Richard: Nakinig kasi ako sa yo.

Maya: Ha?

Richard: Kapit-bisig diba? Lahat kami sa office nag kapit-bisig and we protected LAS the best way we know how. Ang galing mo talaga, sweetheart.

Maya: Hihihi! Ano ka ba? May kapalit yan ‘no?

Richard: (smiles with a naughty glint in his eyes) Anong gusto mo? Ako bahala. Tell me, sweetheart. Our third wedding anniversary is coming up, anyway.

Maya: (smiles mischievously)

Richard: What?!? Tell me, and I’ll make it possible. Second honeymoon ba? Another pair of twins? Kayang-kaya ko yan!

Maya: (giggles) Sweetheart!!!

He smiles, holds her gaze and leans into her for a mind-blowing kiss, never mind if they’re inside a Time Airways plane, and in full view of everyone… including FA Emman.

Emman: (cheerily walks toward their direction while fixing the food on his trolley) Hi, Roomie! Anong order nyo ni Sir Chief Ri–? (Covers his mouth in shock as he sees the lovebirds kissing…) Ay ay ay! Oops!!! Naku, sorry… Balikan ko na lang kayo!

Richard and Maya cut their kiss short and looks up at Emman…

Emman almost slips, as he hurriedly leaves the couple while pushing his trolley.

Maya: Hihihi! Si Emman talaga!

Richard: Hahaha… Some things never change… I love you, sweetheart!

Maya: I love you, too!

Prelude to Sexy Time

Foreword: My forum friends and I were all left wondering after watching BCWMH’s Tuesday (September 16) episode. Richard and Maya were arguing one moment and then in each other’s loving arms inside a hotel room the next. We couldn’t help but ask just one question– Whaaaat haaapppened in between? 😱🙉😆😩😨

I then proposed that we each write our own version of what we think happened… Lucky for me, some took on the challenge and WRITE AWAY they did. This particular blog entry is not just mine but theirs as well.

Be kind. None of us are real writers, after all. We were all just so carried away by that particular episode, we couldn’t help but WRITE AWAY…

Richard: Fine!

​Out of anger and frustration, Richard steered the car and made a sharp turn.

Exasperated, All Maya could do was heave a deep sigh and yell at him, “Ricky!”

Richard brings the car to a sudden halt, bangs the steering wheel and counters, “What?!?”

Maya pouts, “Nakaka-frustrate na ha. Tiger mode agad? Hindi ba pwedeng makinig ka muna?”

Richard retorts, “Eh nakakainis ka eh! We haven’t even talked yet and you’re already accusing me of being responsible for Luke’s misery. That’s so unfair!”

Maya lightly lays her hand on his, hoping to calm him down. “Hindi ganun, Ricky! Makinig ka muna kasi.”

Richard faces Maya and smirks right at her. “What do I need to hear?!?“

Maya couldn’t help but smile. “Ricky! Wag kang ganyan!”

His chinky eyes suddenly turn into slits. “Ano na namang ginawa ko?”

Maya starts laughing uncontrollably. “Hihihi. Wag ka kasing… Ahahaha! Ricky naman! Hihihi!”

Richard’s anger and irritation are now over the edge. “O, pinagtatawanan mo naman ako! Wag akong ano?!? Stop laughing and tell me what you’re thinking Maya!”

“Ahaha! Ricky naman, eh. Nakakainis ka talaga. Hihihi. Galit na ko’t lahat sa yo, nagagawa mo pa ring pakiligin ako. Nakaka-distract kagwapuhan mo kasi. Bipolar na yata ako!”

“Maya, get serious! Kelangan natin mag-usap.”

Maya could not stop herself from laughing giddily at her husband. “Ikaw kasi!”

He smirks again.

“Yan! Yan ang problema. Ahaha! Wag ka kasing magpa-cute!”

He pouts. “What?!? Stop it, Maya! Hindi ako nagpapa-cute!”

“Tama na kasi! Hihihihi! Hahaha! Ricky, awat na sa pagpapa-cute! Hihihi!”

Watching his wife in fits of laughter, a tentative smile finally escapes Richard’s lips, his anger forgotten. “Only she can do this,” he mutters to himself. How he loves it when he’s the cause of her happiness. How he loves it when her beautiful doe shaped eyes look lovingly at him…

He gazes at his beautiful and giddy and happy wife, and something inside him stirs. He smiles at her. She holds his gaze. Mesmerized by his lopsided smile, she smiles right back at him, as well.

Then Richard lovingly touches her beautiful and sexy bare shoulders with his thumb and give each shoulder blade butterfly kisses. “I love you, sweetheart.”

Maya’s breath hitches and her heart flutters. There is obvious longing in her voice when she whispers his name, “Ricky…”

Richard felt like he just swallowed a lump in his throat. He wanted his fill of her. “God, sweetheart, you’ll be the death of me.”

With emotions running high, Richard’s lips plunges into Maya’s. He devours her sweet lips kiss after kiss after kiss. When they both gasp for air, Richard sweetly avers, “I love you so much, sweetheart!” Then he kisses her again, this time slowly, deliberately…

“Ako din Ricky. I love you, too… Pero wag dito.”

“Eh saan?”

Maya answers, “Eh di sa bahay! Uwi na tayo, sweetheart!”

“Noooo! I don’t want any more interruptions, sweetheart!”

“Oh. Okay, Mr. Lim! So san tayo? Hihi!”

They survey their surroundings, and fortunately discover that Richard actually stopped their car right beside a hotel. Happy with their discovery, they share a lingering kiss all over again.

Then Richard starts his car and drives toward the hotel’s entrance. He hurriedly gets off the car, hands his keys to the valet, and opens Maya’s car door. Wearing mischievous, giddy smiles on their faces, they walk hand in hand inside the hotel.

Moments later, Maya’s melodious laughter suddenly fills the air as they enter their hotel room. “Plano mo ‘to ‘no, sweetheart?”

“What?!?”

“Kaya dito mo tinigil yung kotse kanina kasi may binabalak kang gawin!”

“Noooo!!!”

“Ows?”

He smiles. “What!?! Is that what you really think, Mrs. Lim?”

“Of course, Mr. Lim! Alam ko naman, you want a fill of my sexy, gorgeous body. Ahahaha!”

Richard and Maya could not help but smile, laugh and gaze at each other tenderly. They both know what they want right at that moment.

“Think what you want to think, Mrs. Lim! What’s important is we’re here now.” Then he winks at her. “We’re finally all alone with no one to disturb us. And we can finally do this…”

With a look of love reflected in his eyes, Richard smiles, holds Maya close, and ever so slowly, leans into her lips for a mind blowing kiss, that leaves both him and his beloved wife breathless. Then, the inevitable happens. *wink *wink

Happy and sated after their lovemaking, Richard and Maya cuddle up to each other and then kiss and hug each other some more. Minutes pass.

Then Maya asks, “Sweetheart?”

“Bakit?”

“Ano na nga ba pinag-uusapan natin?

Richard pulls her close, “Not now please…”

Maya, on the other hand, was startled by his blunt move.

“Ricky, magdahan dahan ka nga! Baka mabangga tayo sa ginagawa mo eh. Saan ba tayo pupunta?”

Richard remained silent and kept his focus on driving until after a few moments, he pulled out on the side of the road and faced her. They were staring at each other for awhile, both their eyes filled with uncertainty. Their previous fight forgotten and thrown behind as a charge of desire surfaced the atmosphere. Seconds later they found themselves kissing each other and their lips abandoning them as if they have minds of their own. Their hands wandered and explored each other’s bodies. Their breaths ragged and they were both struggling on gasping for air.

With enough courage left, Maya managed to break the kiss, “Ricky, nasa public place tayo. Pwede bang humanap muna tayo ng ibang lugar para mapag-usapan natin kung ano nga ba ang pinag-aawayan natin?”

“I know a good place, “ and with that Richard started the engine and headed to the nearest hotel they could find.

As they entered the hotel room, they were already fumbling on each other’s clothes even before Richard was able to close and lock the door behind them. They were kissing hungrily as if there was no tomorrow. Richard had managed to take off all of Maya’s clothes; however, the latter was so engrossed in responding to his kisses and touch that she was not able to get rid of his white shirt anymore.

They then found their way on the bed and soon as they know it the inevitable happened.

Maya asks, “Sweetheart?”

“Bakit?”

“Ano na nga ba pinag-uusapan natin?”

Richard pulls her close, “Not now please…”

AFTER THE U-TURN

​Out of anger and frustration, Richard steered the car and made a sharp turn. This made Maya hold on to her seat and look at her husband with surprise and utter, “Sweetheart, dahan dahan lang!”

​Richard parked in front of a five-star hotel, got out, and gave the valet the keys. As he was walking fast towards the reception area, Maya had no choice but to follow suit.

​Both were silent inside the elevator. As soon as they were out, Maya could not help asking her husband, “Ba’t tayo andito? Di ba pwede sa bahay na lang tayo mag usap? Nag-aantay ang mga bata sa atin. Uwi nalang tayo.”

​Richard still would not answer her as he opened the hotel room. Maya was starting to get irritated that she pulled on her busband’s arm so he could face her, “Ricky, sagutin mo ‘ko, ano ba!”

​Richard suddenly cupped Maya’s face and gave her a long hard kiss on the lips. This surprised Maya but she eventually reciprocated. The kiss spoke of all their frustrations and pent up emotions. It was as if they were both hungry for each other that they could not wait to be in each other’s arms, and be as close as close can be. Buttons were carelessly opened, zippers down, until every inch of clothing were left strewn along the path towards the bed. And all that could be heard were sounds of love and moans of satisfaction.

​Both sated, Maya asked her husband, “Sweetheart?”

“Bakit?”

“Ano na nga ba pinag-uusapan natin?

Richard pulls her close, “Not now please…”

Richard kept mum as he headed for the inn he saw along the road. Entering its premises, a valet came forward to take the car and he headed to the reception to secure a room. Maya followed behind him, seething at being ignored. When Richard opened the door, she quickly went in and unceremoniously dumped her bag on the glass round table at one side of the room.

Maya: Kailangan pa talaga dito mag-usap? Gumastos pa tayo. Pwede naman sa bahay. Pwede naman sa kotse. Bakit kailangang dito pa? Sana nag park na lang tayo kung saan, yung hindi na sana tayo nagbayad pa. Hindi mo man lang ako tinanong kung gusto kong pumunta dito. Lagi na lang ikaw ang nasusunod.

There’s just no stopping his wife as she continued with her tirade. He couldn’t get a word in even if he tried. Exasperated, he walked over to her, held her face with both hands and sealed their lips together. Finally! Silence.

The softness of her lips cushioned his and he groaned at the sensous feel of it. Hungrily, he captured her lower lip and suckled. Maya responded to his passion, meeting him on the level. As his hands fumbled with the clasp of her haltered top, hers were urgently undoing the buttons of his shirt. Quickly getting out of the rest of their clothes, Richard scooped her up and carried her to bed, their desire for each other, free to be expressed at last after days of interruption. No words left their lips. Only moans and groans filled the room as they reached the glorious peak of love.

Spent, Maya rested her head on Richard’s broad chest. The blanket, modestly wrapped on her chest, and his arms around her kept her relatively warm.

Then Maya asks, “Sweetheart?”

“Bakit?”

“Ano na nga ba pinag-uusapan natin?

Richard pulls her close, “Not now please…”

ABA, EH SAYANG NGA NAMAN

Richard: Fine!

​Out of anger and frustration, Richard steered the car and made a sharp turn.

“Rickeee!” Maya shrieked when she was flung to her side of the car with Richard’s abrupt turn.

“Sorry.” Richard muttered, after quickly checking that his wife was alright. Then, almost with desperation, he started looking around, jogging his memory for a suitable place where he and Maya can talk. His normally sweet Maya – challenging him? In that tone? They really need this talk. Fast.

Thankfully, Richard remembered this new 4-star hotel whose opening he even attended. It was just 2 blocks down the road! He drove his BMW to the hotel’s front driveway and tossed the car keys to the valet as he assisted Maya out of the car. He led her to the cushy lobby seats for that talk but when Maya screeched a bit too loudly “DITO? Dito tayo, Ricky? Aba e di sige. Basta huwag mo akong sisigawan, HA?!” Richard knew it was not the place for them. They were already getting too many unwanted stares from the guests lingering at the lobby.

“Sit!” Richard commanded, then strode to the front desk to get a room.

“Woof!” Maya wanted to snap back. “Parang aso lang? Hmmph!”Maya thought in defiance and remained standing, trying her best not to roll her eyes as a brat would.

All throughout the elevator ride and the walk down the hall to their own room at the 5th floor, Maya seethed with resentment at Richard’s high-handedness. His bossy ways were back! And she didn’t like that one bit. She was, after all a Dela Rosa! “Ang mahal pa dito, ano ka ba Ricky? Di naman kailangan dito pa!” she whined. But Richard refused to utter another word until after they’ve reached the privacy of their room.

Slam!!! Even Richard was surprised at how the door sounded when he unthinkingly shut it behind him. He knew it fueled Maya’s anger some more. They were treading in dangerous waters and he confirmed this when Maya sent him a hostile look. This time, Richard deliberately took slow, measured steps toward Maya, grabbed her shoulders and made her sit on the bed. “Sit.” he said. Maya was beginning to hate the word.

“Let’s not fight, Maya. Usap lang tayo.” Richard said in his soothing voice, wanting to set the ground rules for the talk and at the same time calm his wife. “Ikaw nga yang nang-aaway eh! Nakasigaw ka pa!” Maya retorted, angry at herself when she felt that she was becoming teary eyed. “Hindi kita inaaway!” Richard protested loudly. “O – ayan na naman, sinisigawan mo ako!” she hiccupped. “Eh….gusto ko lang namang sabihin na hindi ka nakikinig, ang tigas na naman ng ulo mo, Ikaw na naman lagi ang tama….” Maya rattled off, almost sobbing. “Hush, sweetheart…” Richard kissed Maya on her forehead, her leaky eyes, her cheek, then he held her chin so he could kiss her lips, too. The love of his life, his wife was hurting – darn it, he made her cry! He kept on giving her pecks on her mouth until finally, he felt her respond with little kisses of her own. With small kissy-kissy sounds!

Then he stopped.

With her lips still pursed, Maya opened her eyes to find out why. “Ricky?” she asked.

“Maya.” he said, almost whispering. She raised her eyes to look at him.

“Maya….may kama o.” Ricky pointing to the bed with just his eyes – he didn’t want to let go of Maya’s chin. “Maya…See? Walang. Tao. ” he continued, this time with a knowing glint in his eyes. Then he raised his brows naughtily. Twice.

Both of them suddenly realized that at last, their Alone Time had come. Maya squealed with joy and looped her arms around Richard’s shoulders, giving him what he calls her “smoldering hot” kisses. Richard’s hands started becoming frisky even as he savored Maya’s eager kisses. Oh how he loved his wife’s naughty tongue – it sure had personality! “Maya?” he managed to utter. “Hmmmm?”, she replied. “Mag-uusap pa ba tayo?” he reminded her. “Be quiet! Ang dami kong ginagawa. Busy ako!” she brushed aside his bothersome comments. And so, it eventually did happen….again….and again….and again. Aba sayang naman ang bayad sa hotel ‘no?

Later on…

Maya asks, “Sweetheart?”

“Bakit?”

“Ano na nga ba pinag-uusapan natin?

Richard pulls her close, “Not now please…”

When I Met You, Maya…

Inspired by last week’s episodes (August 18-22, 2014), here goes another scenario in my mind. Some lines were lifted from the BCWMH concert, I Heart You 2.

It’s Sunday evening and Richard and Maya are having a nightcap at the veranda, while the rest of the household was fast asleep. Maya takes a sip of her coffee as she stares lovingly at her husband who is deep in thought. She knows exactly what he’s thinking. She chuckles and Richard doesn’t notice. She clasps his right hand with her left, and brings his hand to her lips for a kiss, and her husband finally looks at her and smiles.

Richard: What was that for?

Maya: (Smiles) Sweetheart, kanina ka pa tulala. Nakita kita kanina. Affected ka na textmates na si Luke at Joni!

Richard: You know why, sweetheart.

Maya: Alam ko naman yun. Pero sweetheart, pwede bang time out muna sa pag-aalala? Pabayaan na muna natin na magkakilala ng lubos si Luke at si Joni. Sa totoo lang, pakiramdam ko talaga okay si Joni, eh.

Richard: I surely hope so.

Maya: Nakita mo naman pati sina Sky and Sunshine tuwang-tuwa sa kanya. Parang si Abby lang dati. Diba tuwang-tuwa din siya sa kin simula pa lang? And ikaw dati, you kept looking at me with contemptuous eyes. Haha!

Richard: I did? (Laughs)

Maya: Oo kaya. And nakita ko kung paano mo tingnan si Joni kahapon ha. Mukhang natakot siya sa yo.

Richard: You do know that I don’t want to see Luke get hurt. I want him to be cautious when it comes to dealing with Joni. I still can’t help but think that she might be up to no good, given her very competitive nature. She’s so driven! And everyone knows that she’s really hoping to work for Lim Aviation Services in the future.

Maya: Diba the best sa aviation idustry ang LAS? Siyempre sweetheart, marami mag-aaspire na makapagtrabaho sa LAS. Pwede si Joni lang ang very vocal sa desire niya na makapagtrabaho sa kompanya natin, pero for sure lahat sila pinapangarap yun.

Richard: You’ve got a point there, sweetheart. But this is our son we’re talking about. You know how protective I am when it comes to you and our children.

Maya: I know! Hmm. (Laughs)

Richard: O, anong nakakatawa?

Maya: Eh kasi, ako nga pala dati, pinag-isipan mo nang masama. Pakiramdam mo may masama akong balak sa inyong lahat!

Richard: Sweetheart!

Maya: Sweetheart, bakit kaya di mo na lang pa-imbestiga si Joni tulad ng ginawa mo sa kin dati? O kaya pakuhanin mo ng NBI Clearance. O di kaya–

Richard: Sweetheart! I already explained to you countless times why I did that.

Maya: Ang sa kin lang, sweetheart, bigyan mo ng chance si Joni. Wag mo sana siya pag-isipan ng masama. Okay andun na ko. Competitive siya at driven, pero hindi ibig sabihin gagawa na agad siya nang masama.

Richard: Fine! Okay, sweetheart. Your wish is my command. For you and for Luke, I’ll try to keep an open mind about Joni… I really hope you are right about her.

Maya: (Suddenly giggles)

Richard: O, bakit na naman?

Maya: Pwede mag-flashback? Naalala mo dati nung sa airport? Muntik na kong makulong dahil sa yo. Tapos nung nagsimula akong magtrabaho sa yo, lahat na yatang kasamaan sa mundo parang gusto mong isipin na kaya kong gawin o gusto mong isisi sa kin.

Richard: (Rolls his eyes) Stop it sweetheart!

Maya: I love you, sweetheart! Naaaliw lang ako mag flashback. Pagbigyan mo na ko.

Richard: Okay. But do you want to know why I had apprehensions about you when I met you then?

Maya: Bakit nga ba?

Richard: You were too good to be true. Parang wala kang pinoproblema o kung meron man, may solusyon ka kaagad sa mga bagay. Then I saw how you were with Abby and I wondered how someone like you who hardly knew my little girl would love her completely.

Maya: O, anong masama dun?

Richard: Wala naman. But I have never met anyone like you. So it was easier for me to question your motives and to doubt you, than to trust you completely. But then you kept surprising me. Not only did I see how much you cared for Abby. You made an effort for Luke. You also reached out to Nikki. And even if I made things so difficult for you, you never gave up on me.

Maya: Sinong mag-aakala na mai-in love ka sa kin at magkakatuluyan tayo, ‘no? Eh dati wagas ang inis mo sa kin! At wala kang ginawa kundi pagsabihan ako, pangaralan at pagalitan. Naalala mo nung first time na magkasama tayo sa kotse?

Richard: I do! (Laughs) Ang kulit at ang daldal mo, Maya! Wala kang preno! Non-stop ka kung magkwento! And you can’t even take a hint. I turned on the radio to drown out your voice pero wala pa rin. Yung boses mo ang sakit sa tenga.

Maya: Ah ganun ha! Eh bakit ka na in love sa kin?

Richard: Hindi ko nga rin alam, eh!

Maya: Ricky!!!

Richard: Sweetheart, magtatagal tayo dito kung gusto mong isa-isahin ko why I fell in love with you… You are the best thing that ever happened to me, Maya! You’re amazing! You’re beautiful inside and out. You make me smile. When you came, my dark world suddenly lit up. You made me hopeful, happy and whole again. You brought out all those feelings I have already buried a long time ago. You also–

Maya: Aww, sweetheart! Okay na. Pinapakilig mo na naman ako!

Richard: Sanay sa sanay na ko na kinikilig ka sa kin. (They both laugh.)

Maya: Pero sweetheart, seryoso ako. Wag ka nang masyadong mag-alala. Kilala natin si Luke. Hindi impulsive ang anak natin. Pinag-iisipan niya nang mabuti ang mga bagay-bagay. Sa kanya tayo magtiwala.

Richard: (Nods) I guess you’re right. Let’s just hope and pray that this Joni girl is not bad news for our son.

Maya: Oo, sweetheart. Palagay ko hindi siya katulad ng co-intern mo dati. At uulitin ko. Feeling ko okay naman si Joni. Sa mga kwento nina Luke at Nikki, mukhang mabait siyang anak at kapatid. Tapos sobrang sipag pa niya at may pangarap sa buhay.

Richard: Parang ikaw lang, sweetheart?

Maya: Oo naman. (Then sips her coffee)

Richard: Iyakin din kaya siya?

Maya: Ewan ko. Bakit?

Richard: Naalala ko lang. Do you still remember when we picked up Luke at Nicolo’s? Nung na-snatch yung cellphone nya?

Maya: Oo. Bakit?

Richard: Nung pauwi na tayo, diba Luke and I talked? I’ll never forget how you were crying dun sa backseat. Nakakatuwa ka.

Maya: Sobra lang talaga ako na-touch talaga nun! Nakakatuwa ba talaga o nakakatawa?

Richard: Actually, pareho. I appreciated how you already cared so much about my kids, then.

Maya: Yung kids lang? Hindi mo na-feel na nagke-care na rin ako sa yo nun? Di mo na feel na crush na kita?

Richard: Hindi.

Maya: Hay naku, sweetheart. Tama talaga si Rafi. Dense ka talaga!

Richard: Truth is, I think I was starting to like you as a person then. We may have started off on the wrong foot. But you know what? You’re so easy to like! Best of all, you’re so easy to love, too!

Maya: Aww, sweetheart!

Richard: Speaking of flashback, it’s been almost four years since you started stalking me.

Maya: Stalking you?!? Excuse me, Mr. Lim!

Richard: Oh, come on! Eh ikaw na nga nagsabi mismo na crush mo na ko nun pa. Dine-deny mo pa! Diba parati kitang nahuhuli?

Maya: (Rolls her eyes) A-ha?

Richard: Pa sulyap-sulyap. Minsan paamoy-amoy!

Maya: O sige. Okay. Aaminin ko. Eh kasi ang bango mo naman talaga. Eh ikaw nga lagi mo ko pinapakilig. Kakaiba ka!

Richard: (Smiles as he takes a final sip of his coffee) Eh lagi ka naman kinikilig!

Maya: Ha, nagsalita! Eh ikaw nga diyan, eh. Kung titigan mo ko wagas! Kung akapin mo ko parang walang bukas! At tuwing hahalikan mo ko, feeling mo parati yun na yung ating last kiss.

Richard: (Smiles) That’s because I love you so much, Maya! Thank you for coming into my life, sweetheart!

Maya: Ako din, sweetheart. Thank you for being the best husband in the whole world. I love you nang sobra sobra so–

Richard suddenly made a lunge for Maya’s lips, catching her off guard. All Maya could do was respond to his mind-blowing kisses. She loved the feel of his sweet lips on hers. When they finally end their kiss and gasp for air, all Richard and Maya could do was smile knowingly and gaze lovingly at each other. Holding each other close, they retreat to their room both with an intent to love, to trust, to respect and to make each other happy for the rest of their lives.

Let’s Talk Outside

A/N: This piece is inspired by the convo between Richard and Luke from the August 19 episode of BCWMH. The first few lines were lifted verbatim from that day’s ep. This is how, I think, the entire convo went between father and son. Happy reading!

Richard and Maya pay Luke a surprise visit and get the surprise of their lives when they find Joni, Luke’s co-intern, inside his condo unit. Richard, obviously disappointed, suddenly goes on tiger mode. He does not mince words, and tells his son outright, “Let’s talk outside.”

Luke: Dad?

Richard: Luke Andrew, what’s the meaning of this?

Luke: Ah, Dad, this is not what you think it is. Ahhm, naabutan lang po kasi kami sa daan tapos ito po sinilong ko po siya.

Richard: What do you mean inabutan kayo? Hindi ba siya sumabay sa service?

Luke: Eh Dad, kasi po may sakit po siya eh. Hindi ko po maiwanan.

Richard: Son, I gave you your own place so you’d be independent. But with independence comes responsibility.

Luke: Yes, Dad. You’ve nothing to worry about.

Richard: And why shouldn’t I be worried? You disappointed me, son. You acted irresponsibly by not letting us know.

Luke: Dad, I didn’t mean to–

Richard: You could have told me you didn’t agree with me at all and argued your point. I would’ve have listened.

Luke: (Continues to listen to his Dad with head bowed down)

Richard: When I told you to have the service take Joni home, you said you would. You didn’t argue. You didn’t even insist on taking her home yourself. Not only did you choose to disobey me, Luke. You also lied.

Luke: Dad, I really didn’t mean to lie. Nung tumawag po kayo kagabi, sasabihin ko na po talaga sa inyo kaya lang po biglang naputol yung line.

Richard: That’s a lame excuse, son. Ang daming ways to let me know. You could have sent me a text message instead or you could easily have called sa landline.

Luke: Sorry po, Dad. Naiintindihan ko po kung bakit kayo nagagalit. Pero I really intended to let you know. Hindi ko po plano na isikreto sa inyo.

Richard: (Brows rise as he continues to listen to Luke)

Luke: Pero before I knew it, I got caught up in taking care of Joni. Nakalimutan ko na pong ipaalam sa inyo. Sobrang taas po kasi ng lagnat niya. Masyado po akong concerned na pababain yung temperature niya. I am really sorry, Dad.

Richard: Son, it’s also improper to take girls to your condo and have them spend the night with you.

Luke: Pero Dad, wala naman po kaming ginawang masama.

Richard: Even so. Whatever the circumstance, it’s not right for you to spend the night alone with a girl other than your wife.

Luke: I know that, Dad.

Richard: I did not raise you to be like that. Women should be treated with respect.

Luke: Opo naman po, Dad. Pero wala naman po talaga–

Richard: Meron o wala, we should never put women in compromising situations such as this. I have to be honest. I am VERY disappointed with how you handled this! You have three sisters. How would you feel if they were put in the same situation as Joni? Would you go easy on the guys who’d have them sleep in their condo?

Luke: (Remains quiet for a long time…) I understand, Dad. Sorry po talaga.

Richard: Son, our actions always have consequences, that’s why I want you to act responsibly at all times. As my eldest, I want you to set a good example to your siblings.

Luke: Opo, Dad. Sorry po talaga.

Richard: You might think I’m being too harsh on you or I’m being too unreasonable, but I’m your Dad. It’s my duty to discipline you and make sure you turn out okay. It’s my responsibility to make sure you grow up knowing what’s right from wrong. You may not appreciate it now, but someday, I know you will.

Luke: Dad? I’m really sorry. Naiintindihan ko po kung bakit kayo nagalit. I lied and disobeyed you. Pero Dad, talagang wala po akong intention to put Joni in a compromising situation. Nag-alala lang po ako talaga na baka abutin kami ng baha sa daan. Kaya nag offer po ako na sa condo muna kami.

Richard: (nods)

Luke: Dad? Thank you po.

Richard: For what?

Luke: For reminding me how to be a gentleman. For setting such a good example for me to follow. You don’t have to worry about me, Dad. I grew up seeing how well you treat all women lalo na sina Mom, si Lola, si Manang Fe and si Mommy.

Richard: Thank you, son.

Luke: Can I let you in on a secret, Dad?

Richard: Yes, son?

Luke: I have always dreamt of becoming just like you when I grow up. And now that I’m a grown man, that dream has not changed at all. I admire and respect you so much, Dad. I hope to become just like you someday.

Richard: Don’t, son. I want you to aspire to be even better.

Luke: Ang hirap naman po nun, Dad. You’re almost perfect. Best Daddy in the world nga po, diba?

Richard: (Laughs)

Luke: I love you, Dad. And I’m sorry po talaga.

Richard: I love you, too, son! I hope this doesn’t happen again. I have to be honest. I am still disappointed because you disobeyed me.

Luke: I understand, Dad. I promise to be even more careful with my actions from now on.

Richard: That’s good to hear.

Father and son go back inside Luke’s condo with a better understanding of each other, somehow.

A/N: Because I am so inspired by Be Careful with My Heart these days, I simply can’t stop myself from writing another scenario in my mind. This piece is inspired by the August 6 episode of #BCWMH. I have also quoted verbatim the love letter Richard wrote for Maya.

Chapter 1

Maya awakens from deep slumber and is surprised to see herself enveloped in Richard’s warm embrace. The happenings from a couple of hours ago come rushing back to her. She still can’t believe Richard flew all the way to Catarman to be with her. She recalls with fondness the drama that transpired the moment she left her hotel room to welcome the visitor that was waiting for her outside.

Maya: (in tears the moment she sees Richard) Sweetheart! Huhuhu. Andito ka? Hindi ka na galit sa kin?

Richard: (gives Maya a kiss and hugs her tightly) Shhh. I’m sorry, Maya. I love you! Thank God, you’re okay. I wouldn’t be able to forgive myself had something bad happened to you.

Maya: Huhuhu. Miss na miss kita, Sweetheart! Sorry na. I love you.

Richard: Shhh, stop crying. Everything will be okay. The important thing is we’re together now. I love you so much, Maya.

Richard: (gently lays a hand on her forehead) Does this hurt? Has a doctor seen this yet?

Maya: (smiles ever so sweetly) Sweetheart, okay ako. Wag ka nang mag-alala. Okay na okay na ko lalo na andito ka na.

Richard: You look tired. Let’s go to our room.

Maya: Teka muna. Kunin ko lang gamit ko and magpapaalam muna ako kay Ms. Calandra.

Chapter 2

Inside their hotel room

Richard: Have you had some sleep yet?

Maya: Hindi ako makatulog, Sweetheart. Sobra kitang iniisip. Ang lungkot lungkot ko nang malaman kong wala ka na naman sa bahay. Tapos nag-alala din ako kasi sabi ni Kute bigla na lang daw naputol pag-uusap nyo. Natakot din ako na baka may nangyari sa yo. Tapos naisip ko baka galit ka pa din sa kin kaya di ka man lang nag-text. Lahat sila sa bahay at San Nicolas nag-text na para kamustahin ako tapos ikaw lang walang text.

Richard: (look of worry crosses his face) Alam nila na may nangyari?

Maya: Oo, sweetheart. Nasa news daw. Pero wag ka nang mag-alala. Nakausap ko na silang lahat. Sa yo na lang sila nag-alala kasi di nila alam kung san ka nagpunta.

Richard: Don’t worry, Sweetheart. It’s almost 1 AM now. I’ll call up Manang Fe in a few of hours to let her know we’re together and she and the kids have nothing to worry about.

Maya: Pero sweetheart, san ka nga ba talaga nagpunta?

Richard: Sweetheart, di ko kayang magtagal sa kwarto natin kasi wala ka dun. So I left and drove myself to the airport para hintayin kita at sunduin. I slept in the car while waiting for you. Tapos Cris called and asked where your flight was. She sounded so worried. Di na natapos pag-uusap namin kasi my phone suddenly went dead. Empty battery na pala. I rushed inside the airport and went to the Time Airways office. I found out everything from Ms. Pacheco. I was so worried when she told me na you were the FA who got hurt.

Maya: (smiles and kisses him) Sweetheart, wag ka nang mag-alala. Okay ako. Habang nasa flight nakapag-isip isip din ako. Na-realize ko may mga mali din akong nagawa. Naisip ko marami pa rin akong dapat malaman at matutunan sa pagdidisiplina ng mga anak natin at sa buhay may asawa. Kaya ready na ko makipag-usap sa yo para maayos natin lahat lahat.

Richard: Sweetheart, we’re both tired and sleepy. Don’t worry. Okay na tayo. Let’s talk about this tomorrow.

Maya: Okay, sweetheart. I love you!

Richard: I love you, too… Oh, before I forget, flowers for you.

Maya: Hihi! Thank you, sweetheart. Pero san ka pa nakabili ng bulaklak sa oras na ‘to?

Richard: Maya, kanina ko pa yan dala nung pag-uwi ko sa bahay from Clark.

Maya: Ay, sorry di ko napansin. Ikaw naman kasi. Nakita mo lang na papasok ako sa trabaho, tiger mode ka na agad. Nainis tuloy ako.

Richard: I know and I’m sorry about that. Pero let’s talk about that tomorrow.

Maya: (finds a folded piece of paper from the flowers he gave her) Sweetheart, ano ‘to?

Richard: (smiles) Love letter. I’ve been trying to call you ever since I got to the airport, but my calls couldn’t get through. Kaya yan, I decided to write you a love letter na lang.

Maya: (smiles) Sweetheart! Pinapakilig mo na naman ako. Pwede bang basahin ko muna bago tayo matulog?

Richard: Okay. And while you do that, I’ll freshen up muna.

Maya: Okay, sweetheart. I love you.

Richard: I love you, too!

Maya smiles as she carefully unfolds Richard’s letter.

HI SWEETHEART! I’M SORRY FOR WHAT HAPPENED. YOU HAVE ALL THE RIGHT TO GET MAD AT ME.

HINDI KITA PINAKINGGAN AND I ASSERTED MY POINT.

WHEN WE GOT MARRIED, I VOWED TO APOLOGIZE WHEN I MAKE A MISTAKE. I DIDN’T FORGET THAT, SWEETHEART.

THE THING IS, IN TIMES WHEN FEAR AND PAIN GET IN THE WAY, WE TEND TO GET TOO EMOTIONAL. THAT’S WHAT HAPPENED.

NASAKTAN AKO SA GINAWA NI NIKKI AT NATAKOT AKO DAHIL KUNG PAANO KUNG MAY NANGYARING MASAMA SA KANYA.

THAT’S WHY I GOT UPSET AND I WASN’T ABLE TO CONTROL MY ANGER. AND ALL I WANTED WAS SOMEONE TO SUPPORT MY REACTION, SOMEONE TO TELL ME THAT WHAT I DID WAS RIGHT. SO THAT I’D FEEL COMFORTED.

SIGURO NAGHANAP LANG AKO NG KAKAMPI, BUT IN DOING SO, PATI IKAW NADAMAY AND EVERYTHING BLEW OUT OF PROPORTION. I’M REALLY SORRY. (quoted verbatim from BCWMH Aug 6, 2014 episode)

Maya clutches Richard’s letter to her heart and her tears simply kept flowing. Richard sees her and rushes to her side.

Richard: Sweetheart, what happened?!?

Maya: (giggles in spite of her tears) Hihi! Sweetheart, na touch lang ako sa sinulat mo. Thank you. I love you! Ang sweet mo talaga!

Richard: (smiles) Oh! I love you, sweetheart! Let’s go to bed na.

Maya: Pero sweetheart, nawala na yung pagod at antok ko.

Richard: (his eyes twinkle) So, what do you want to do?

Maya: (giggles) Ikaw? Ano ba gusto mo? Hihi!

Richard: (winks) Ok! Madali ako kausap. Let’s head to our bed then. The blanket is waiting!

Maya: Sweeheart! Hihi!!! Okay…

They stare right into each other’s eyes with the look of love in their smiling faces and share a lingering kiss. And then the inevitable happens. *wink *wink

Chapter 3

Maya

Ang gwapo-gwapo talaga ng asawa ko kahit tulog. Hihi! Hmmm. At ang bango-bango talaga! At kung makayakap naman! Sobrang higpit! Haaay, sweetheart, hindi obvious na sobra mo akong na-miss. Tulog ka na nga’t lahat, eh kung makaakap ka eh wagas! Parang wala kang balak yata na pakawalan ako ngayong magdamag! Ayiiieee! Kinikilig na naman ako! Paano pa ko makakatulog ulit nito?

Hindi pa rin ako makapaniwala! Talagang nag-hire pa siya ng chopper para lang makalipad agad dito at makasama ako. Patampo-tampo pa ko kanina at naiinis kung bakit ni isang text message wala akong natanggap na galing sa kanya. Tapos heto na. At talagang ako na ang may pinakamahabang hair! Haha!

Sino ba naman ang di kikiligin sa mga ginawa mo, sweetheart? Lumipad ka papunta dito para lang makasama ako. Tapos may bitbit ka pang flowers na may sobrang nakakakilig na love letter na kalakip! Ikaw na talaga, sweetheart! Ikaw na talaga ang superman ng buhay ko.

Hihi! Mahal na mahal kita, sweetheart! Sobra sobra sobra. Pa-kiss nga muna.

Richard stirs from his sleep and is awakened by Maya’s kisses. He kisses her back with all the love and passion he is feeling.

Maya: Ay, sweetheart, sorry nagising pala kita. Ang aga pa. 6 AM pa lang. Tulog muna tayo ulit.

Richard: It’s okay, Maya. I need to call Manang Fe, too!

He reaches for his cell phone and gives Manang Fe a call. After the call, he stares right back into his wife’s beautiful doe shaped eyes and gives her a wink.

Maya: Sweetheart?

Richard: (his eyes twinkle all over again) You woke ME up, Maya!

Maya: Hindi, ah! Gusto lang kita i-kiss kaya.

Richard: Well, now I’m awake. (leans in to give her a kiss)

Maya: Sweetheart! Ahahaha! Ang aga ha!

Richard: Well, you started it!

Maya: Hihi! Okay. Madali naman ako kausap. Pero paano yung flight natin?

Chapter 4

Richard awakens to the loud snoring of his beloved wife and he smiles to himself. He kisses her forehead and stares contentedly at her. Then he sits up, reaches for a pen and paper and writes her a love note all over again.

I LOVE YOU, MAYA! THANK YOU FOR COMING INTO MY LIFE AND ALLOWING ME A SECOND CHANCE AT HAPPINESS.

YOU ARE THE BEST THING THAT EVER HAPPENED TO ME. THE BEST THING THAT EVER HAPPENED TO LUKE, NIKKI, ABBY, SKY AND SUNSHINE! SWEETHEART YOU ARE THE SUN THAT SHINES EVER SO BRIGHTLY IN OUR LIVES.

I WILL CONTINUE TO LIVE WITH GRATITUDE IN MY HEART TO OUR DEAR LORD FOR HAVING YOU COME INTO MY LIFE.

AS I TOLD YOU BEFORE, THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A PERFECT RELATIONSHIP. THERE WILL BE MISUNDERSTANDINGS AND ARGUMENTS BETWEEN US EVERY NOW AND THEN. He kisses Maya and stands up from his side of the bed. He then lays his letter for Maya beside her cellphone, before he heads for the bathroom and gets himself ready for the day ahead.

Everything is all right in his world. Richard is with the woman he wishes to spend the rest of his life with. Communication is indeed the key. Sure, they will have that much awaited long talk to settle their concerns and differences, but he knows they will both open their hearts and listen intently to each other.

And before long, all will be well in their world because Richard and Maya both trust, respect and love each other dearly.

A/N: This piece is inspired by the events that transpired in BCWMH from July 31, August 1, 4 & 5, 2014. Allow me to enter the preoccupied minds and restless hearts of Richard, Maya and Nikki Lim as they struggle to fix the predicament they’ve gotten themselves into.

Chapter 1

There is trouble brewing inside the Lim mansion between Richard and Maya, all thanks to their daughter, Nikki Grace Lim, who somehow started it all.

NIKKI

Oh my gee! What have I done? What have I done? I know I saw Mom kiss Dad before she left for work, but why do I feel they’re still not okay… The kiss Mom gave Dad was just for show to make us think they’re okay. Pero… oh no! They’re totally not okay and it’s all because of me. Mom and Dad look so lonely and miserable! I feel so guilty!!! This is all my faaaauuuult!

I shouldn’t have gone to the tenement with Tisay at all! I’m so so sorry, Dad!

I know what I did was wrong, pero I still did what Dad didn’t want me to do. He has every right to get mad at me talaga! He forgave me na nga for not telling him about the cell phone snatching incident that happened the first time I went to the tenement, tapos I didn’t make sunod pa what he wanted. I should have just stuck it out with Tisay sa HYC Cafe! What is wrong with me? Why did I have to disobey his orders? He trusted me na nga again by allowing me to meet up with Tisay tapos I did this pa. Hay naku, Nikki Grace Lim, you better get this fixed!

Maybe I should approach Dad and say sorry talaga. I know I’m the one at fault here, after all. He trusted me na nga again after I lied and what did I do? I disobeyed him big time! He and Mom made away pa all because of me! They’re such a sweet, loving couple! I can’t believe I caused trouble between them! Sana lang they will patch things up soon. Because I did what I did, they had to argue pa about me and because of meeee! Haaay! Okay na, I’ve learned my lesson. I have no right to question why Dad is angry. Mom is right. He probably got so angry because he got so worried and feared for my safety. I have to say sorry to Dad talaga and tell him that Mom’s not making me kampi at all. She simply helped me understand the reason behind his actions.

And I owe Kuya an apology, too. Because of me, pati si Dad nagalit sa kanya! Shape up, Nikki Grace Lim! You have got the best family! Don’t be the cause of it’s downfall!

MAYA

Trabaho naman pupuntahan ko ah! Bakit kelangan magalit agad siya? Eh siya nga mismo ginawa din niya yun sa pagpunta sa Clark! Tapos ngayon kung makasumbat siya, wagas. Pa-text text pa siya na mag-usap kami at ayusin problema, tapos pagdating niya una kong maririnig panunumbat? YOU’RE WORKING?!? ON A SUNDAY NIGHT? Naku Ricky ha, nakakagigil ka! Bakit kasi kelangang tiger mode agad? Hindi ba pwedeng mag-usap ng mahinahon? Bakit galit agad?

Tapos yung issue kay Nikki, di naman kelangang palakihin ng sobra kung kinausap lang niya ng mahinahon yung bata agad. Bakit kelangan ipagpabukas pa? Hmph! Ay, oo nga pala. Sabi nga pala niya, he’s known Nikki all her life. Kelangan ba talagang ipagdiinan yun, Ricky, ha? Ang sakit nun ha. Tagos sa dibdib! Ricky naman, bakit kelangan mong ipamukha pa sa kin na hindi ako ang tunay niyang ina?

Naku Ricky! Di pa nga niya alam na sobrang excited ako umuwi kaninang umaga para makita siya at makapag-sorry ako tapos wala pala akong dadatnan dito? Nakakagalit yun ha. Ako na nga ulit magpapakumbaba kasi sabi ko nga kay Emman, pati yung tiger mode niya and pagiging sobrang bossy niya eh parte yun sa minahal ko sa kanya. Maghapon akong naghintay sa pag-uwi niya tapos siya pa magagalit? Eh siya nga yung wala kanina pang umaga! Di ko naman gusto na magtrabaho ngayong Linggo pero napasubo na ko dahil kinonsensya ako ni Des. Oo, alam ko may usapan kami na walang work dapat pag Sunday. Eh, ako lang ba sumuway nun? Siya din naman ah!

Haay, nakakagigil ka Ricky! Kung di lang talaga kita mahal talaga! Oo na! Pag-uwi ko mamaya mag-uusap tayo at aayusin natin ‘to. Alam ko may mga mali din akong nagawa, pero ang ikinaiinis ko lang eh… Basta! Nanggigil talaga ako.

Sabi ni Manang Fe, wag ko daw pabayaang pagsimulan ng away ang isang maliit na bagay, pero ang hirap kasi nakakagigil mga pangyayari!

Maya, tama na muna emote! Work mode muna. Wag painitin ulo ng mga pasahero dahil sa init ng ulo mo! Smile kahit di mo feel. Smile! Good vibes lang, okay? Okay na? Di pa rin? Naku, Lord, help me po. Eto na magsa-smile na!

RICHARD

I went home this early Sunday evening with high hopes of fixing things with my dear Maya. I miss her terribly. I bought flowers and wrote her a note. Nothing too mushy, but direct to the point: I’M SORRY. LET’S STOP FIGHTING. I LOVE YOU!

I still don’t get why she reacted the way she did. Don’t I have a right to ask if she’s indeed working on a Sunday night? Why does she have to over react and avoid me like the plague? And why can’t she just call Time Airways and have someone else sub for her? Didn’t we agree before that none of us is supposed to work on a Sunday? And we have a problem na hindi pa nare-resolve tapos ngayon aalis siya on a Sunday? I want us to resolve things muna before things get out of hand. Gumaganti ba siya kaya in-accept niya mag sub?

Okay, I may have done something wrong as well by working on a Sunday and not even texting or calling her about it, but I had to handle an emergency that no one else can handle. Shouldn’t that be reason enough for me to leave on a Sunday?

Pagod ako sa trabaho, tapos pag-uwi ko ganun pa? Lahat na lang sasabihin ko minamasama niya! Akala ko nagkasundo na kami na mag-uusap tapos when I got home, I found her wearing her uniform. I know Manang Fe is right. I’m at fault, too! But I just want Maya and I to talk so that we can settle all our issues.

Was I too harsh with her like Manang somehow implied? I know I hurt her when I said I know Nikki more than she does. I shouldn’t have said that all! That was totally off! I know how badly I hurt her with those words. I did wrong, I know! I should not have shouted at her at all. I want to make it up to her, but I also want her to realize how I feel about the way she handled Nikki…

Maya is still young and has still much to learn when it comes to disciplining our children. We have to really talk some more about how to discipline the kids and make sure we’re on the same page. Hindi pwedeng yung isa kakampi, tapos yung isa kaaway.

Maya won’t even be with us tonight while we watch Backpacker’s Expo’s feature on San Nicolas Dampa. I just hope the kids won’t notice that something is still wrong. I don’t want them worrying about us.

I love Maya. I don’t want us to keep fighting! This is all too much for me! If I have to make the first move, I’ll do it. I miss her terribly!

Chapter 2

MAYA

Delayed daw ang fllight at pwede ako manood ng Backpackers Expo. Matawagan nga si Sweetheart… Ay, di pa nga pala kami okay. Si Nanay na nga lang.

Kung alam mo lang Ricky, miss na miss na kita! Ngayon lang ako lilipad na may matindi tayong pinagdadaanan. Pag-uwi ko, promise. Aayusin natin ‘to. Makikinig na ko sa mga sasabihin mo, pero sana pakinggan mo rin mga saloobin ko. Mahal na mahal kita, Ricky!

RICHARD

Here am I in the living room sitting with the kids, Manang Fe and the rest of the household. Even the Dela Rosas are watching with us via Skype. Let me call Sweetheart and tell her that the show’s about to start.

I suddenly hear Nanay’s voice via Skype. “Mga apo, eto Mommy niyo. Delayed yung flight niya. Nanonood din daw siya.”

Maya must really be so angry with me to call me and talk…

MAUDLIN.

Now, that’s a word that aptly describes the state I’m in at this very moment. I’m indeed self-pityingly and tearfully sentimental. The tears want to fall, but I won’t let them. I don’t want the kids to worry anymore than they should. I love Maya. I’m aching for her presence now more than ever. I want to envelop her in my arms right here right now and have her know we’ll be okay. We will have a long talk, come to an understanding, and we will never have to live through this same ordeal ever again. I miss my her. I feel so miserable without my wife.

The show ends and I congratulate and bid the Dela Rosas goodbye. I retreat to my room only to feel even more empty because Maya is not there with me.

NIKKI

Dad is obviously soooo affected by what’s happening between him and mom. He tried his best to show us that he’s okay while we were all watching Backpacker’s Expo, but I felt it. Kuya, Abby and I felt it. Manang Fe confirmed it pa. I am soooo to blame for all this! Why do I have to be so pasaway? I belong to the best family pa naman who loves me and cares so much for me!

If I have to beg just so maging okay na sila, gagawin ko! Kung kelangan lumuhod, then so be it! I don’t want things to get out of hand between Mom and Dad. They’re the sweetest, most loving couple I know! I’ll never forgive myself if they never patch things up… Oh no, I can’t sleep… Maybe I’ll start by texting Dad muna. I don’t want to text Mom and tell her I know that she and Dad are still not okay! Ayoko mag worry siya for us while she’s working.

Text to Daddy:
Daddy, I’m so so so sorry! I know what I did was wrong. You trusted me na nga again tapos I disobeyed you pa. I really didn’t mean to, Daddy. It was a spur of the moment decision lang po. I’ll no longer argue. I’m fine with the consequences that you want to impose. I love you so much, Daddy! I know you and Mom got into an argument because of me. I also know you’re still not okay. I hope and pray po talaga that you’ll be okay na. I love you and Mom so much, Dad! Promise, I won’t disobey you ever again.

While I am preoccupied with thoughts about Maya, I receive a text message from Nikki. I smile as I realize my firstborn daughter has learned much from all this. I am also saddened because she did notice that her mom and I are still not okay.

I text her back. NIKKI, IT’S TIME FOR YOU TO GET SOME SLEEP. LET’S TALK TOMORROW. I LOVE YOU. DON’T WORRY ABOUT ME AND YOUR MOM. WE LOVE EACH OTHER SO MUCH. I’M SURE WE’LL BE ABLE TO FIX THIS.

Chapter 3

MAYA

Naku, pano ba ‘to? Sabi ni Ms. Calandra zero visibility daw sa Tacloban at mag-eemergency landing kami! Naku naman po, Lord, sana walang masamang mangyari. Di pa kami nagkakaayos ni Ricky tapos mangyayari pa po ito?

Mahal na mahal ko po si Ricky at ang mga anak namin. Wag niyo pong pahintulutan na may mangyaring masama sa aming lahat na sakay sa eroplanong ito.

Mag-uusap pa kami ni Ricky. Magso-sorry pa ako sa kanya. Aayusin pa namin ang problema namin. Wag po, Lord! Iligtas mo po kami sa kapahamakan.

RICHARD

Restless and awake for the past two hours, I couldn’t stop thinking about Maya. I am both angry and in pain.

I’M NOT HAPPY WITH THE WAY THINGS ARE GOING. IF YOU DON’T WANT TO TALK, FINE!

I stare at the text message I just composed for Maya. I’m tempted to send it to her, but Manang Fe’s wise words stop me from doing so, “Minsan Ricardo ang magandang intensyon, nasasapawan nang masamang pagsasalita… Ingat sa pagsasalita. Pag nasabi na isang bagay, di na mababawi.”

I erase the text message, give Time Airways a call, stand up from our bed, and head for the bathroom. I get dressed. I’m fetching Maya at the airport and we’ll settle things between us.

Inside my car, I stare at the flowers I bought for Maya. I crumple the message I wrote earlier and compose a new one for my dear sweetheart. I write from the heart. I smile at the message I just composed. I know Maya will totally love it and this note will most likely end up in her scrapbook. This note will remain as our constant reminder to never let a simple argument go on for days without talking.

When did you become so mushy, Richard Lim? It’s so uncharacteristic of you. You’ve always been direct and straight to the point. You don’t like mincing words. You don’t like sugarcoating. I can only think of one reason. Maya is responsible for this change in me. Her happiness means the world to me.

I learned to become mushy the day I fell in love with this beautiful woman who possesses the most beautiful doe-shaped eyes and the most loving and most caring heart. She loves me. She has learned to embrace everything about me. I’ll definitely do anything and everything to make you happy, Sweetheart!

I smile as I think about my dear Maya, love of my life, my reason for being!

I’m coming, Maya. I’ll fetch you from work. We’ll fix things between us. I love you, sweetheart! I love you so much.

WHAT’S NEXT!?!

Waah! What exactly will happen next in today’s episode? I’d like to think that nothing too life shattering will happen. I’d like to believe that the writers will be very careful with our hearts and won’t have us go through something our hearts and minds can’t take.

I’d like to believe that the emergency landing will indeed take place, but there’ll be no dreaded plane crash. The passengers and crew will incur minor injuries from the impact of the landing, but will immediately be taken to nearby hospitals and attended to.

And Richard and Maya will be back in each other’s loving arms in no time, each with a solemn promise to never let a day pass without settling their issues ever again. Sure, the much needed long talk will happen because that’s the only way to settle their issues, but they will truly listen to each other’s thoughts and feelings. They will both talk to Nikki as well and make her understand the gravity of her actions. And everything will be all right in their world. Communication is key, after all!

What happens from here on in, we’re all excited to find out, I’m sure!

Extra Irresistible

(A/N: This was also written around 1st or 2nd week of June. Never got around to posting it til now.)

Richard stirred from his sleep to discover his lovely wife preparing coffee for him. A lopsided smile escapes his lips as he watches his dear sweet Maya. It has been a while since they have had time alone with each other since the twins were born. Thanks to Doris and the new nanny, Maya has more time to rest now… More time for him, too!

With her back to him, Richard stands up and stealthily walks towards his dear sweet Maya, hugs her from behind and gives the right side of her nape butterfly kisses. Maya giggles and turns to look at him, “Hihi! Sweetheart, nagulat naman ako sa yo! Good morning! Coffee mo o.”

Richard winks and smiles at Maya as he sets aside her coffee, reaches for her hand and leads her to their bed. Then he has Maya sit on his lap and naughtily whispers in her ear, “I’d rather have my fill of you. I’ll drink the coffee later. Wag puro na lang ako and ang mga bata kasi inaasikaso mo.”

Maya responds, “Hindi lang kaya ikaw at ang mga bata ang pinagkakaabalahan ko.” Then she stands up, hands on waist, and shows off her sexy figure to him.

Richards smiles lovingly at her and pulls her back to sit on his lap. He whispers, “Kaya pala you look extra irresistible today.” They lock gazes. Maya smiles at him ever so sweetly then suddenly giggles as she ducks his attempts to reach her neck for a kiss, “Sweetheart, ang aga aga, pinapakilig mo na naman ako!” He pulls her to him, hugs her, gives her a mind blowing kiss and tells her, “Diba you like that? Gustong-gusto mo na pinapakilig kita.” Maya could only smile at her sweetheart. Here she goes again– giddy and speechless after he kisses her with so much ardor. That always happens. Every time!

Before Maya has the chance to escape from his embrace, Richard kisses her passionately all over again. Maya wraps her arms around him as she surrenders to his kisses and love making.

Richard and His Mini Me’s Girl Talk (Version 2)

(A/N: In my own made up scenario, it is Daddy Richard who knocks on Nikki’s bedroom door, not Maya. I actually wrote this last June 10, 2014 but never got around to posting it til now.)

Richard knocks and opens Nikki’s bedroom door.

Richard: Niks?

Nikki: Yes, Dad? What’s up?

Richard: I just miss you, Niks!

Nikki: Huh? Awww! You’re so sweet, Dad! But I’m just here naman in my room, and we see each other everyday naman po.

Richard: I know. But because your Mom and I have been so busy attending to the twins, I feel that I owe you some alone time so we can bond. Just last week, Abby confided na nagtatampo siya. Ikaw din ba?

Nikki: Dad, I’m not nagtatampo.

Richard: Baka kasi nami-miss mo na makipag girl talk sa Mommy mo or sa kin.

Nikki: You’re so funny, Dad! But since you asked… Well, there are days na I miss girl talk with Mom.

Richard: So Mommy mo lang nami-miss mo?

Nikki: Of course not, Dad. I miss you din ng super. Thing is, I’m scared, too!

Richard: Why will you even be scared of me, Niks? I’m your Dad. You can tell me anything.

Nikki: I know, but I’ scared you won’t understand.

Richard: Baby, try me. I’m your Dad. I will try my best to understand.

Nikki: But it’s so dyahe, Dad.

Richard: Nikki, try me. Is this about Nicolo?

Nikki: (blushes)

Richard: Tell me.

Nikki: Well, you do know that I like him, diba po?

Richard: (nods)

Nikki: And I promised you that I will not entertain him until I’m in college na?

Richard: Yes.

Nikki: You see Dad, I kinda envied my friend Stacey kasi she told me last week may boyfriend na siya.

Richard: Isn’t Stacey too young to have a boyfriend? Okay sa parents niya?

Nikki: Well actually, Dad, she kept it a secret from her parents. Pero she said naman na she won’t do anything that will hurt her parents.

Richard: Oh. But she lied, Niks. She’s keeping something from them and that’ll really hurt her parents.

Nikki: I know that now, Dad. Stacey’s Mom came to pick her up today only to find out that Stacey was with her boyfriend. Stace was so scared and her Mom seemed so hurt.

Richard: She lied, Niks, and that hurts. As parents, we all pray our kids will always be open to us about everything.

Nikki: You have nothing to worry about na, Dad. I told Nicolo na we should forget our promise to wait for each other.

Richard: You did? Why? Don’t you like him anymore?

Nikki: (blushes) Daddy!

Richard: Tell me.

Nikki: I do, Dad. But I feel it’s unfair for him. He’s already of age na and pwede na siya mag girlfriend.

Richard: Did Nicolo agree with your decision?

Nikki: Well, hindi po. Actually I think I hurt him with my decision. He insisted he’ll wait, but when I said that he shouldn’t nagalit din po siya.

Richard: Nicolo said he’ll wait?

Nikki: Yes, Dad.

Richard: (smiles)

Nikki: Daddy, why the smile?

Richard: You know, Niks, when I started courting your Mommy, I told myself that I’ll wait for her no matter how long it takes. She’s still so young and has dreams to fulfill.

Nikki: You did that, Dad?

Richard: Yes. I love your Mom so much, but you do know she’s so much younger than me. I didn’t want to rob her off her dreams.

Nikki: But then Mommy loves you so much, so she eventually said yes na rin.

Richard: Well, your Mom didn’t love only me. She loved all of us. She loves all of us. She chose me among her other suitors. She chose us.

Nikki: Aww! Well, you and Mom are really meant to be, Dad. We are all so lucky to have her in our lives. She’s an amazing woman, Dad.

Richard: And you are an amazing young woman, Niks. I have faith in your decision.

Nikki: But Nicolo’s so sad, Dad.

Richard: If he really likes you, then he’ll probably wait just as he promised even if you let go of that promise.

Nikki: But what if he falls for another girl while waiting for me to grow up?

Richard: Then maybe you truly aren’t meant to be, Niks. If there’s one thing I learned after Alex died, it’s that the world is full of surprises. Maya came as a wonderful, unexpected surprise. If you and Nicolo are truly meant to be, then it will happen.

Nikki: Really, Dad? (covers her face with both hands) Oh, I’m so embarrassed we even had this talk.

Richard: Don’t be. I’m actually glad we did. Medyo nagseselos na nga ako sa Mommy mo kasi kayo na lang parati nage-girl talk, eh. I’m so glad you let me in, Niks. Thank you for trusting me with your thoughts.

Nikki: I do trust you, Dad. It’s just that I feel so dyahe talking to you about these things.

Richard: I hope you stop feeling that way. I’m your Dad. You can tell me anything. Pwede tayo mag girl talk anytime you want.

Nikki: (laughs) Daddy! Talaga pong girl talk tawag mo dito sa kwentuhan natin?

Richard: (smiles) Ano pa ba dapat?

Nikki: Hihi!!! I love you, Dad!

Richard: I love you, Niks!

Before The Twins Are Born

Part 1

Maya’s 7th and 8th months of pregnancy passed by like a breeze as she spent her maternity leave either at home supervising the kids and all household needs OR at Lim Aviation Services attending to Richard’s needs and getting to know their business more. In between, Maya also attended the remainder of her Lamaze sessions with Richard, helped Nikki & Abby in their growing business, and supervised the designing and decorating of their new home which they can finally transfer to come November.

Maya is also in constant touch with her Dela Rosa family. She is happy to know that the house they’re having constructed in San Nicolas is finally built, that their karaoke business is doing well, and that Nanay Teresita and Tatay Arturo are doing okay since they got back in each others’ arms during the Lim-Dela Rosa Cebu trip, all thanks to Maya playing Cupid.

It is now the month of September and Maya is excited at the prospect of giving birth a week from now, never mind if it’s via Caesarian-section. She is one lucky pregnant wife as Richard has been giving her the very best care possible. Richard has also made arrangements with Liza about getting the whole week off next so he can take care of Maya and the twins. Luke, Nikki, and Abby, although busy with school, are just as excited as everyone else.

Over breakfast with Richard and the kids this happy Sunday morning, Maya makes a special request.

Maya: Sweetheart?

Richard: Yes, sweetheart?

Maya: Pwede ba after mass, bumisita tayo ng mga bata kay Alex?

Richard: (smiles) Okay. It’s been quite a while since we last visited her. Girl talk na naman kayo?

Nikki: Hihi! That’s a great idea, Tita Mommy. We haven’t visited Mom in a while.

Luke: Oo nga po, Dad. Tsaka we also want to tell Mom something.

Nikki: Yes, Daddy. There’s really something we want to tell Mom.

Richard: Ano naman yun?

Abby: It’s a secret muna po, Dad.

Richard: Okay.

Maya: O sige na, tapusin niyo na yung kinakain nyo, para makapagbihis na lahat tayo at hindi ma late sa mass.

Part 2

Inside Alex’s mausoleum, the kids are happily sharing stories with their Mom–

Luke: Hi, Mom! Guess what? Daddy and Tita Mommy gave me a really cool car for my by 18th birthday, and I’ve been driving myself to school since then. You don’t have to worry po. I’m a very careful driver.

Nikki: Buti pa po si Aira nakasakay na sa car ni Kuya, kami ni Abby hindi pa.

Luke: Nikki!

Nikki: What? I’m just saying.

Luke: Ahh, ganun ha? Mom, nakwento na po ba sa inyo ni Nikki si Nicolo?

Nikki: Kuya! You are so GRRR! Rawr!

Luke: What? I’m just saying!

Abby: Kuya, Ate, you’re both so funny! Hi, Mom!

Nikki: Guess what, Mom? I’m doing great in school. Westeatro has also been receiving a lot of praises as we continue to stage relevant and timely stories.

Abby: And yung weekend business po namin ni Ate is doing really good.

Nikki: And that’s all thanks to you, Mom! Thank you for teaching me how to bake the most delicious cookies and cupcakes ha. Business has been really good.

Abby: Pero don’t worry, Mom! School remains a priority for all of us.

Luke: Ahhh, Mom, there’s something we want to tell you. We are all excited cos Tita Mommy is giving birth na po next week.

Richard holds Maya’s hand as they both continue to listen in on the kids’ conversation with their Mom.

Nikki: And Dad and Tita Mommy are having twins, Mom! A boy and a girl po. We’re going to name them after our Lolos and Lolas– Robert Arthur and Emerald Therese.

Abby: I’m finally going to be an Ate na to baby Robby and baby Emma! Yehey! (Claps her hands)

Nikki: Mom, you remember what we told you? Since our twin siblings will be born na next week, is it okay with you if we start calling Tita Mommy ‘Mommy’?

Maya: Nikki?

Nikki: Yes, Tita Mommy. Kuya, Abby and I have been talking about this with Mom na po for a long time. We really want to call you Mommy if that’s okay with you.

Luke: We don’t want baby kambal to be confused and to ever think they’re different from us.

Abby: And Tita Mommy is really a Mommy to all three of us po. Please don’t get mad po ha.

Nikki: Abby, Mom is a very kindhearted and loving Mom. I’m sure she’s not mad.

Luke: We are so sure she’s happy pa nga that Tita Mommy came into our lives.

Nikki: Kuya’s right, baby! I think Mom was even responsible for having Tita Mommy come into our lives. Mom only wants us to be happy.

Maya is in tears as she listens to Luke, Nikki and Abby, her three children whom she loves so much. Richard wipes away her tears and kisses her forehead.

Luke: And you know what, baby? Sure kami ni Ate Nikki na okay lang kay Mom, that we start calling Tita Mommy ‘Mommy’.

Abby: Really, Ate, Kuya?

Luke and Nikki nod.

Abby: (Looks at Maya) Is that okay with you, Tita Mommy?

Maya: Oo naman basta ikasasaya niyo, mga anak. Mahal na mahal ko kaya kayo!

Nikki: Then it’s settled. We will start calling you Mommy from now on!

Abby: Aren’t we lucky, Ate, Kuya? We have the best parents in the world and they’re not only 2! There are three of them! Mom, Mommy and Daddykins!

Luke: You’re right, Abby! We love you, Mom! We love you, Mommy! We love you, Dad!

Nikki: Mommy, Daddy, we’ll stay in the car muna po. We know you also want to talk to Mom.

Richard and Maya: Hi, Alex!

Richard: Well, I guess nakwento na ng kids lahat. Except for one thing. We’re transferring to a new house in a couple of months. And excited na lahat.

Maya: Mahirap ba manganak, Alex? Kinakabahan na ko. Hihi. Buti na lang, maalaga itong si Ricky… After ko manganak, promise. Bibisita kami agad dito para naman makilala mo sina baby kambal… Alex, salamat ha sa lahat-lahat. Alam mo na kung bakit. Wag kang mag-alala. Habang buhay kong mamahalin si Ricky at ang mga bata.

Richard: (smiles lovingly at Maya and kisses her forehead again) We will come visit you again soon, Alex.

Still holding each other’s hands, they both say a silent prayer to Alex.

Richard: Alex, thank you. I think the kids are right in assuming you had a hand in all this. You were the one who made sure that Maya will come into our lives and like magic, make everything all right. Always remember that I will always love you. Thank you for giving me three wonderful children. And thank you for Maya!

Maya: Alex, salamat ng marami. Pakiramdam ko tama ang mga bata nang sinabi nila na may kinalaman ka sa pagtatagpo naming lahat. Salamat! Maraming-maraming salamat. Mahal na mahal na mahal ko si Ricky at ang mga anak natin. Wala ka nang dapat ipag-alala. Mamahalin at aalagaan ko sila habang buhay.

Part 3

After dinner, Richard and Maya, head straight to bed after a fun and tiring day with the kids. As Richard and Maya lay in bed, with Maya’s head resting on Richard’s chest, Maya is in deep thought.

Maya: Sweetheart?

Richard: Yes, sweetheart?

Maya: Sana okay lang magtanong. Nagtataka lang kasi ako.

Richard: Ano yun?

Maya: Nasan ang pamilya ni Alex? Bakit parang ni minsan, wala pa akong nakikitang bumisita na kamag-anak ni Alex sa mga bata o kahit tumatawag man lang? Maging ang mga bata parang wala din namang kwento tungkol sa pamilya ni Alex.

Richard: Alex is an only child. She was born and raised in the US to a Chinese Dad and a Filipina Mom. When Alex was 10 years old, her Dad met a car accident and died on the spot. Her Mom singlehandedly raised her after that. Then when Alex was 17, her Mom fell in love and remarried. Alex was so happy for her Mom then.

Maya: Hmmm.

Richard: Kaya lang, Alex realized na no matter how hard she tried to be a dutiful stepdaughter, her stepdad still didn’t like her at all. He was mean to her and he made her feel she was not welcome to stay with them and her two stepsiblings. He was only nice to her everytime her Mom was around. By the time Alex was 18 and about to go to college, she made a decision to come home to the Philippines.

Maya: May mga kamag-anak siya dito?

Richard: Wala, actually. Her Mom was orphaned at a young age kasi. Pero yung bestfriend ng Mom nya was a teacher at PUS. Her Mom allowed her to come to the Philippines and study basta sa PUS siya mag-aaral para her Mom’s bestfriend can somehow look after her din.

Maya: Pano kayo nagkakilala?

Richard: There was a semester when one of my former professors asked me to give a series of seminars sa PUS. I was already working for Mr. Go then. Remember, si Mr. Go, yung dati kong boss and Ninong natin sa kasal?

Maya: (nods)

Richard: Alex was already in 4th year college then. She was among the participants dun sa seminar. We met and it was love at first sight.

Maya: Hahaha!

Richard: O, bakit?

Maya: Kayo ni Alex, love at first sight. Ako naman na love at first sight din sa yo. Pero ikaw, sabi mo nga, it took you awhile before you realized it… Na mahal mo na pala ako. Hahaha!

Richard: Tulog na nga tayo. Nagseselos ka na yata, eh.

Maya: O, joke lang, sweetheart. Alam ko namang mahal na mahal na mahal mo ako, eh. Tuloy mo na kwento.

Richard: Before the series of seminars was over, naging kami na.

Maya: Agad agad?

Richard: Oo. And we got engaged even before she graduated from college. A month after her graduation, we got married even if Papa and Mama were against it. Her Mom came to Manila for her graduation and stayed til our wedding.

Maya: Grabe ka, Mr. Lim! Ang bilis ah!

Richard: Eh ganun eh.

Maya: Sweetheart, na-meet ba ng mga bata yung Lola nila? Yung Mommy ni Alex?

Richard: Well, a couple of times lang. She came to the Philippines for a short visit. Luke was around 7 at that time and Nikki was 4 years old. Hindi na siya na-meet ni Abby kasi a year after her visit, she succumbed to cancer. Alex didn’t even know that her Mom was sick na pala when she came to visit then. She only knew about it when her Mom’s bestfriend finally told her about it. This was like three months before her Mom died. The moment she learned about her Mom’s illness, we all flew to the US together. The kids and I stayed no longer than one week cos Luke and Nikki had school, while Alex stayed there to take care of her dying mom for almost 3 months din.

Maya: (in tears) Ang lungkot naman.

Richard: Yes.

Maya: Buti na lang nagkatagpo kayo at nagmahalan. Ang lungkot-lungkot pala ng mga pinagdaanan niya.

Richard: Yes.

Maya: Pero, sweetheart, wala bang nakilala si Alex na kamag-anak from her father side?

Richard: Wala din, eh. Her Dad’s parents were against his marrying Alex’s Mom. Nothing personal. They simply didn’t like her Mom kasi Filipina siya and hindi Chinese like them. After her Mom and Dad got married, they decided to live in the US na lang.

Maya: Ahhh.

Richard: O, curiosity satisfied na ba?

Maya: Yes, sweetheart. Tulog na tayo.

Richard: Finally! Kanina pa ko inaantok, eh.

Maya: Haha! O eto na lang pambawi ko.

Maya raises her head, blows butterfly kisses all over her husband’s handsome face, and then cups his chin and leans in to him for a lingering kiss that totally blew him away.

Richard: Wow!

Maya: Ahaha! Yan lang pala gusto mo, eh.

Richard: Wow!

Maya: Haha! Sweetheart, okay ka lang?

Richard: Sweetheart, you think it’s okay to ask your OB kung pwede ka na manganak bukas?

Maya: At bakit masyado kang nagmamadali?

Richard: I miss you. I miss us spending hours in bed pleasuring each other…

Maya: Sweetheart!

Richard: Ikaw, eh! Bakit ayaw mo ba?

Maya: Siyempre, gusto din. Ahahaha!

Richard: Yun naman pala, eh.

Maya: I love you, sweetheart!

Richard: I love you more, sweetheart!

With satisfied smiles on their faces, Richard and Maya suddenly gaze at each other with passion, deep longing, and desire mirrored in each others’ eyes. Then their lips finally come together for a kiss neither of them didn’t want to end at all… 🙂
